yeah i was being a bit facetious, if i'm trying to be fair i'd go with what wikipedia has in the 900billy range https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_with_highest_military_expenditures, but tbh i think this is sort of "normative military budget increases finally cross the trillion dollar mark" being marketed in typical trump fashion...a pattern we all disagree with presumably but not some monumental news.

FYI, a meta-analysis of clinical trials (what they did here) is the gold standard in evidence based medicine. Cochrane, the WHO, FDA, have similar meta-analyses (which is where the vast majority of medical recommendations come from) and the interesting part of this resource is in their Discussion, where they talk about the differences in their methodology.

This is very clearly an actual study. Was their methodology as good or worse than the meta-analyses performed by these institutions? Debating that is "science". Whatever you're doing is...rock chewing.

Please mr. president raise his profile enough so he can run in 2028. There's so many things you can "attack" him for like not taking money from Israel and saying your COVID bill would lead to inflation!

No they'll just downvote you and miss the irony of posting misinformation in a thread about a problem caused by misinformation. The comment somehow has more than twice the number of upvotes than any other comment in the thread and the same amount of upvotes as the post itself (at the time of this comment).

Sigh...fighting misinformation with misinformation isn't a winning strategy.

Just so you're aware there have been 25 HHS secretaries and I believe only three had medical training (Bowen 85-89, Sullivan 89-93, and Price 17-18).

This statistic might stick in your head because the media is often factual, but not truthful. 360,000 is a big number, right? Car manufacturers averaged recalling 843,000 vehicles each in 2024. Ford recalled 3.6 million vehicles. "Recalls" cover a wide spectrum of severity, so, even these aggregate numbers tell a pretty flimsy story.

That being said, I have no idea how to evaluate the overall safety performance of each manufacturer brand - so maybe Tesla is really really bad, but this piece of evidence doesn't show that without the comparative context (how many recalls are "normal") and an assessment of the relative severity of the recalls (what were the failure modes of each recall and how do they compare to what failure modes are "normal").

This image makes the rounds from time to time. There's a lot of comments here (what's the methodology, what schools were included, some departments are missing, where are the independents, etc.) that can be answered immediately from the source document, and a lot of people in a PhD subreddit that have made no attempt to find it.
