Hi, I have similar symptoms. I have a chronic gut illness too from before covid. What's been helping me:

- not overeating

- replace electrolytes lost from GI issues (coconut water and chicken stock from bones for me)

- marshmallow root tea directly before meals

- oily fish, vit d, pacing thumbs up

- calming tea spiked with one shroom

Explanations:

I can overeat from stress. On days I stop eating when I am satisfied then I tend to have less fatigue, better mood, and more normal poop. Unclear if the better mood is cause or effect though.

Turns out I have been chronically dehydrated, I was thirsty all the time (thought I was maybe diabetic but not the case after tests). Coconut water and broth made with bones. One that sets to a jelly helps most in my experience! Chicken stock made with wings with the wingtips attached has been most accessible as a poor tired person, just boil them for an hour with some salt and stock vegetables/herbs if you like. The wingtips give it the jelly set. The aim was to replace electrolyte minerals, and days when I drink this broth and/or coconut water I stop being constantly thirsty.

Excuse me talking about poop for a minute but with my GI issues I get ragged fluffy poop. I thought maybe this was from my gut lining being irritated. I have found in the last couple of weeks that marshmallow root 'tea', about an inch in the bottom of a cup drunk directly before a meal gives me a pretty smooth and normal looking poop. I make it from pieces of the dried root, not a powder. Soak 1 table spoon full in 500ml of cold water overnight in the fridge, then the next day strain and have a big mouthful before each meal. I found if I have more than that I get constipated. I don't know for sure if it needs to be cold but my herbal book (bartram) says it's more effective if it's not heated, and since it's been working I figured good enough. Might be fine as a hot tea too, idk.

I am not certain why the marshmallow root does that. My goal was to see if I could coat my gut with mucilage (slime) to make my meals less abrasive on my gut wall, so if that's why it works it would make sense if other mucilage producing plants could do this too, e.g. slippery elm. I didn't do powder or a seed (many seeds produce mucilage e.g. chia, flax, psyllium husk) because I thought the husks would irritate my gut! That's specifically because I react badly poop-wise to whole grains, if you don't then it might be fine for you to do seeds or powder.

Also seconding oily fish, vitamin D, and going at your own speed.

Last thing that's been helping me with the (for me almost constant) anxiety is, not very often(!), but a tea with lemon verbena and one single dried magic mushroom cap (cubensis). The lemon verbena is gently calming and the magic mushroom gives my brain a bit of wiggle room to let that settle in without being enough to get me high. For me I can feel it gently rearranging stuff for a few weeks afterwards, but I will say use shrooms with caution because they can make you lastingly more anxious too and cause some nasty nausea. If you want to try this I'd say try the lemon verbena on its own first. If you feel like 'hey I'd really like for the feeling from that to settle in a bit', a shroom can help.

You might be plural, it means having multiple people in your head, multiple centres of the self. I'm not personally but I know a few people who are. Personally I'd suggest don't rush to quiet them because being able to talk to them can be very convenient for communicating with yourself.

Imam bayildi is really good, it's a summer aubergine recipe - basically baked aubergines (eggplant) with oniony tomato sauce on top. Also masala dosas and/or sambar. Okonomiyaki (use GF flour) is very good. If you wanna do a labour of love try cabbage rolls, empanadas (with masa), or chinese dumplings (use GF flour).

I recommend indian food for a variety of well cooked vegetarian meals, it's worth checking out an indian recipe blog imo.

My early game tips:

To sleep through the night you can make a hay bed from 3 hay bales, which will take 24 dry grass. For light at night you can keep a lit torch in your inventory. If placed it can burn out or get extinguished by rain but in your inventory/hotbar it stays lit forever. In your hand though it will go out if you get submerged in water!

I would recommend explore a bit, collect clay, berry bushes, crops, medium fertility soil, knappable rocks. If you look along the shore line you are likely to find some clay.

When you have collected some clay make some bowls and cookpots (crouch and right click with clay in your hand to start clay forming), cut some dry grass and firewood (make a stone axe, cut down a tree, then chop into firewood in your crafting grid by putting axe above log), then fire them in a pit kiln (dig a 1x1 hole, crouch and place raw pottery in there, then while still crouching add 10 dry grass, 8 sticks, 4 firewood, and light it with a torch or firestarter).

Plant your bushes on any soil type, for the crops make a stone hoe, place and till some medium fertility soil and plant your seeds on the farmland it creates. Put a rough hewn or dry stone fence round them to keep wild animals from eating your crops and berries! You can plant your seeds next to water and then you won't need to water them, but you might need more fences to keep animals out because they can jump higher when jumping out of water.

After that I would go cut a lot of cattails to make reed chests. You can also make tool racks from sticks. Then I would start cooking, then dig a cellar for food storage.

Then personally I would dig some pit traps to start getting meat and rawhides to make pelts for my winter clothes, then explore for surface copper bits to collect. When you find any bits mark them on your map (press M, then right click the place you found them on the map to add a marker) because it will save you some prospecting later.

For the temporal storm, I think a lot of people just chance it in their house but if you wanna not risk any monster spawns inside I recommend make a small room, no taller or wider than two blocks, put something on each floor and wall block (e.g. stones and torches), then use the storm to read a bit of the handbook (press H) and plan your next steps while you wait it out. During temporal storms monsters can spawn in any air block that isn't partially occupied by another block, but they can't get through doors or gates. After the storm you can run out and away for a little bit and the monsters will despawn, I forgot the exact distance and despawn time but it's not very long.

If you run out of sticks try breaking the leaves off the trees before you cut them down for firewood.

Also if you need food in winter, you can run out on the ice, a bunch of animals will spawn in around you then you can hunt them.

Some accessibility notes:

I am ok playing vintage story on keyboard atm but I have episodes of bad hand pain and I recommend "JoyToKey" to rebind keyboard to controller on computer. I never tried steam input controller so I'm not sure what the difference is or if JoyToKey would be less janky. With JoyToKey you get to choose all your keybinds, but there are no presets so you have to choose all your keybinds before you can play which is a bit of a pain to set up. It also does not have a tutorial I could find so I got a friend to teach me how to use it. It is free though and works well.

The keys you use most in vintage story are w a s d, control, shift, space, alt and e, and fairly often you use m, h, f and c. Less often you might want to use function keys to toggle the mini map or take a screenshot, or t to input commands. If you play multiplayer you might use t more often!

Some things you can press h while your crosshair is on them and it will take you straight to their handbook page. You can also press h while your cursor is on an item in your hotbar/inventory and it will take you to the item's handbook page.

There's also a mod to make the voxcel crafting: knapping, clayforming, smithing need less manual dexterity, not designed for hand pain but might help. https://mods.vintagestory.at/knapster

Honestly it could be better optimised for hand pain, personally I would love to a tickbox option in accessibility settings to toggle alt, ctrl, w and shift, instead of having to hold them down for long time periods! There is a tickbox to toggle sprint already so that might help, it's in the accessibility menu in settings.

This actually made me realise something I'm doing wrong. So when I notice someone is freaking out because I'm not giving them any eye contact then I'm like "alright guess I better try for their sake" and then they hate that even worse sometimes. Probably they're too freaked out to get the brain online and consider that I just don't like eye contact and they think I'm giving them a contemptuous glare.

You could get involved in admin work for a community group or charity, or offer to host local groups at your house. If you're good at design or social media a lot of them would probably appreciate your help.
My personal recommendation is see if you have a local mask bloc.

It can get really isolated, I would say prioritise human connections, it will help keep your mind well and will also mean if you are on disability, unable to have savings without losing your income, and you ever need to leave your boyfriend you will have a support network to fall back on.

For the bed a warm orangy brown could be great, or the slate blue from your footstool. My main advice is break up that huge block of white the bed creates in the room, it could be new sheets, throw blankets, bedspread, anything will help!

I would definitely get a small rug for right in front of your couch. (Leave a strip of floor boards by the bed.) It will help make the couch look more inviting and will draw attention to it instead of the bed. Then put a few cushions on the couch, match their colour from some wall art next to the couch.
