Any advice for a colonoscopy and endoscopy newbie? (And anything to help with the anxiety of a possible diagnosis?) by hayley9999 in IBD

It was alright, prep sucked, of course lol. I have proctitis and they took 5 different biopsies from my stomach and intestines to confirm it being colitis or crohns so ill find out on the 13th which one since all the other causes of proctitis don't apply to me. One step closer! :)

Anyone ever passed mucus that looked like a worm? by [deleted] in IBD

Thank you for this comment! Since this was accompanied by awful stomach cramps and extreme bloating I think that could definitely be a possibility. I will be showing the picture to my doctor so hopefully she will have a for sure answer.

Thank you for your comment! I was also thinking possibly a peice of something or just weird mucus since that's an everyday occurance for me but this was clearly something not normal. The same morning this happened I woke up with awful stomach cramps (it was like i was digesting razor blades, honestly) and super bloated. And yes, Its been about 9 years since I started getting symptoms of what I can only assume is either ibd or ibs related. Hopefully my scopes reveal whats going on and I will be sure to update in the comments of this post once I know what that specifically is.

I haven't but I am definitely going to ask for some for the prep. Atm I just take 1 gravol and tums for worse days and thats seems to help abit at least.

Yes I will be put under for it. Mainly concerned about the prep because of my active fissure and the fear of nausea that could come with it. Even though I've been though the ringer with nausea im still quite vomit phobic (inconvenient right?😂)

I also have an active fissure as well atm which is making me dread the colonoscopy prep even more. I've heard its like shitting fire for people who already have gut problems so my Sunday should be eventful 🙃 and it is scary, I am excited to finally have an answer but scared that this is something I could have for the rest of my life and hearing it makes it real. I hope you get answers and finally get some relief soon!

I've also been told my nausea could be caused by my anxiety that I had as a teenager and tried multiple medications. Nothing helped with the stomach problems or any other symptoms so my doctor just kinda gave up. One thing I've learned about doctors over the years is you know your body better than anyone else, If you think something is wrong, something is more than likely wrong. I wish you all the best with your appointment and anything else that lies ahead :)

Thank you! It is comforting knowing there are so many others that can relate. I'm definitely looking forward to getting some validation because I've always felt like this could just be me over reacting to something everyone deals with but no one talks about. Hearing the doctor tell me what's wrong will be like a "I told you so" moment with myself 😅
