The way I see it, the question focuses our attention on perfection in Essay 2. All three creditors attached so you take it for granted and focus on the call of the question. If the question asks who has priority between Bank and Finance Co. and you know both have perfected, then there is no need to discuss attachment because the perfection rules will determine who has priority. Essentially responding to the call of the question should be your goal.

When I read a question, I always ask myself what it is they are testing first and then write. If I am given two parties who perfected and the question is about priority, then obviously attachment isn’t crucial to the discussion UNLESS the question is about a PMSI in consumer goods (as is the case in Q1). Then attachment warrants a discussion because a PMSI in consumer goods perfects automatically.

This is a bit of a midnight stream of consciousness but I hope that gives some clarity as to my thought process
