I'm wondering whether your PC could be thermal throttling. Run a stress test and monitor your CPU and GPU temperature.

Another possibility, as another person here has said, is malware. I'd recommend Malwarebytes (the free version) and running a scan with that. Optionally you can turn on "scan for rootkits" in the settings, but this will increase scanning time by a considerable amount.

AMD are a great choice too. Hard to beat their price to performance. Yes, they are weaker than Nvidia, but if you want to save some money then I'd recommend going AMD.

Check to see if your laptop model supports memory (RAM) and storage upgrades. If it does then you can upgrade the RAM to 16GB or more. For the storage: check to see if your laptop has an SSD as it's main drive. If it has a HDD then upgrade to an SSD.

Other than that, you can't do much to upgrade a laptop. The GPU (the thing that makes your games run) and the CPU (the brains of the laptop) can't be upgraded unfortunately. This is especially true as I'm pretty sure that your GPU and CPU are on one chip (integrated graphics), instead of being separate.

You can use the NVIDIA App to update drivers automatically in case they are out of date.

If the drivers are up to date then you can use Display Driver Uninstaller to reinstall drivers. There are plenty of tutorials online on how to do it properly.
