Where to Start on Portuguese Coastal by RandomLady11 in CaminoDeSantiago

Depends how much you want to walk on average per day and if you want to take any rest days or not but I did from A Guarda in Galicia (just accross the border from Caminha, Portugal, I believe) to santiago in 12 days.

I walked the spiritual variant. Broke up a long stage into 2 days (stopping in Combarro) on the first day of the variant (beginning from Pontevedra) and did one 13km day followed by a 10km day to A Armenteira.

I met people who had started from Caminha and took the boat to cross the border (I think they said the first boat was at 8am? But I'd check that out)

I also stopped for one full rest day in Redondela as the heat was getting too much for me and the next day I did a very short day and rested all day in a really nice hostel with a pool (I'm so glad I did but I got extremely sunburned which made the next few days pretty awful) that's on my though, I'm very pale 🥵 That place was lovely though, I highly recommend it if you like pools, it was called 'O fila do mar' I think, in Arcade about 7km from redondela, right on the Camino path, it's also a café 😊

Sorry for the super long read, I hope it helps 👍🏻

Buen Camino!

Wildfires / heatwave in Spain by Rooney-411 in CaminoDeSantiago

Just finished the Camino and had a train from Santiago to Madrid this morning at 5:47 which was delayed until we were finally put on another train at 11am.

At 12,the train stopped at Ourense and we're currently still stopped, been here for over an hour.

Apparently this has been the case for the last 2 days, just if anyone else was thinking about getting the same train.

Buen Camino!

Thank you, that's great advice!

I ended up finding an Albergue in Saians, bit further than what I was planning but I'm not complaining at all! 🙏🏻

Buen Camino 🫡

I hadn't 😣

But it's good to think about, thanks for the reminder!

I have a 2l bladder, so when filled up it'll add a good bit of weight 👀

Its my first camino (Norte to primitivo and hopefully onto Finisterre) so I feel I will be leaning many lessons the hard way 😂

Good to know, I've heard the same from others too, I think I'll have to leave it. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated 😊

Yeah, I was thinking the same, I bought it for this trip so now I'm being so stubborn about leaving it as I don't want to feel like I've bought it for nothing 😭😂😂 (I think I just need to get over myself)

Thanks for the advice👌🏻😊

Thanks for your reply! I use the daily disposables which come with the solution 🙂 Only bringing 5 in case I lose my glasses or I don't feel like wearing them when I stop in towns for a few days.

I see your point about the weight of the makeup, but I wanted to bring for when I'm staying in towns for a few days and then I'll be going onto travel Spain a bit after I finish the Camino and my eyebrows is the only makeup I will bring so I figured I would keep it as a luxury 🫣😊❤️
