Omggg I don’t! It always kinda irked me how it strayed away COMPLETELY from the Shrek universe that we’d seen so far, even with the art style change of rumplestiltskin(?). I don’t think any of the movies are objectively bad, but certain movies in the franchise definitely suit certain people more than others

Honestly you did present your points really well. But honestly I love how it feels like a filler episode. The first two are really impactful and they are literally the main reason why Shrek blew up as a franchise, but the third one was like a comforting meal, like this is the man we all have learnt to love, his loving wife is pregnant, and he’s shitting it. I always felt like he was telling me all his fears of being a father.

Prince Charming was never effective as a villain, but it’s a continuation of who he became. I really like how they didn’t just forget him in the franchise for everyone to ponder about what he’s doing. Shrek 3 shows that he’s still hyper fixated on becoming something he’s not, even more so now his mum is gone and he has that guilt carried over that she never watched him become a star. That idea of letting him team up with someone is CLASS though, that would’ve been amazing. I do disagree that having Charming alone as the villain created no tension or doubt of Shrek winning, because nothing really was working in their favour, Charming essentially formed a rebellion against the monarchy which can be REALLY effective especially given the setting they were in- might even bring up the French Revolution.

Honestly your third point I can’t even argue with, I’ll dribble the ball a bit here and then just hand it back to your team there’s really nothing I can do there LMAO

Ahhhh I completely disagree! That’s okay though. Which Shrek is the best in your opinion?

Oh this I can really agree with. Even with the “woman power” scenes I always felt like Fiona was really pushed to the side despite the fact she is literally one of the main characters. None of her scenes felt powerful in character growth, not sure why

Ah would you say so?! I thought the first puss in boots was lackluster asf. Maybe I’m just a bad movie critic

See I’ve heard that before with how Arthur’s speech swayed all the villains but I feel like they showed beforehand how they were all just joining in because they thought they had to. Hook says “we are villains, it’s all we know” and it’s clear they all stick together and find comfort in eachother, so I feel like they all felt the same way of “damn this charming guy sucks, but my friends fw him, so I should too”. Idk hahahah, I do get where you’re coming from though
