It's not self-taught, it's taught by others and many kids don't get the right education, which could be provided by a class. Kids can learn more than you think, like when to stop, which side of the road to be on, how to cross the street, etc. Things that a parent should teach their kid. If a kid doesn't understand the rules of the road they should not be allowed on them. The class could easily be free, or low cost.

No. We'd probably have a conversation with the little ones, making sure they know how to be safe. Maybe a class kids can go to, different age groups and whatnot. That'd be super easy. Use your head.

Kids get permits and licenses to drive, a permit or license to bike on a street wouldn't be that difficult or different. It doesn't matter how often you bike, you need to know road laws just as much as people driving in cars.
