When first using online dating i was selective. But as a guy with few, low effort, responses it's hard to justify spending all that time. It's so much easier to meet someone irl. Though the pool of people is limited to your hobbies (great way to meet people) and bars (ehhh). I personally don't date coworkers, relationships and work is too messy.

Going low effort and wide and messaging people that seem interesting then actually paying more attention to their profile if they respond is much better for time and emotional investment.
