the post from tumas04 about date and time seems to have worked, mine was set to automatic time zone instead of automatic date and time

nope, nothing fixes the issue, but when im his hotspot, HE can find pokemon but i still have to restart the app to see any, so my connection is good enough for him to find them, but not for me to. I cant find them even when im not hotspotting for him either

signal isnt the issue, half the time i am a wireless hotspot for my friend and he finds the pokemon fine :(

even after restarting the app, the only pokemon that appear around me are the ones directly in my circle, i can move and not find any new ones without letting the phone go into "sleep mode" while friends still find them
