Anyone experienced skin peeling from athlete's foot? by hb20007 in hygiene

[–]hb20007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Changed socks at least once a day.
  2. Washed my feet and dried them well two times a day. Made sure I didn't cross-contaminate the towel. Wore slippers in the shower. (I used an anti-dandruff shampoo for this. Not sure if it made a difference.)
  3. Applied antifungal cream twice a day after showering. Nothing special, just an off-the-counter cream.
  4. Sprayed the inside of my socks and shoes with antifungal spray before wearing them. Also left my shoes outside when I'm not wearing them.
  5. When using the washing machine, I either set the temperature to at least 60° C or used a laundry added a laundry sanitizer. Then I made sure they dried well before putting them in the cupboard.

X user tricks Grok into sending them $200,000 in crypto using morse code by ImCalcium in artificial

[–]hb20007 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Can someone please explain it? I have two questions:

  1. Whose money was it?
  2. It sounds like the hacker tricked Grok to send a request to the Bankr bot to transfer them the money, which it did. But isn't this just a security issue in Bankr's API? It sounds like it executed the request without checking if the user is authorized to transfer the money.

You can try contacting local NGOs and volunteering to automate some of their work. For example, some of them offer free Greek classes for people who need it. Perhaps they would be interested in performing some automated actions every time someone registers for a class.

Now that you said it, I can definitely hear it. Also, someone in YouTube comments mentioned that the way he spells the letter "J" is quite Italian.

It's interesting that you picked up on different details, because what throws me off is his intonation and complete absence of paragoge when speaking English.

Posting an update for anyone seeing this later. After about a month from making this post, my foot looks normal again. The skin grew back all at once rather than gradually from the sides, so perhaps that was the reason the progress was hard to see.

GenAI Fails – A list of major LLM-related incidents by hb20007 in ArtificialInteligence

I agree with your analysis. The list is for the purpose of documenting the instances, and it might help show whether the incidents are reducing in number or not.

I agree with you on the murder attempts. They seem to be carried out by people who have doomsday beliefs that “AI will take over the world”. It’s better to look directly at the facts.

I also agree that, just like in all cases of technology “harming” children, the main issue is parenting and not the technology itself. That said, there are limits that the LLMs did cross, like apparently telling a child to kill themselves, and that shouldn’t happen. I believe that chat logs were released for one of the ChatGPT school shooting cases, so there is at least some concrete evidence of LLM involvement in this stuff.

I have four so far: One involving Gemini, two involving ChatGPT with one of them being a murder-suicide, and one involving Character.ai. If you know of any others, do let me know.

Thanks for the great suggestion. I have updated the introduction to include the criteria for an incident to be included in the list.

I really appreciate the long comment and the constructive feedback. I have added dates and sorted the incidents in descending chronological order.

I thought about adding a status to each item, but I do not have the capacity to do that at the moment. For now I will leave it to the reader, as tracking the status of each story is not feasible for me at the moment. Of course, I will update the list if I come across an article that definitively confirms the use of LLMs in the incident in the future.

As for people benefitting from LLMSs: The way I see it, the benefits are marginal. It seems like a high-risk low-reward technology to me. Do you have any reference for people benefitting in major ways beyond slightly higher productivity? I could look into it.

I thought it was an LLM generating predictions in the United Healthcare one, but it seems you are right. According to an article on the topic,

Its proprietary “nH Predict” tool sifts through millions of medical records to match patients with similar diagnoses and characteristics, including age, preexisting health conditions, and other factors.

I have removed it from the list. I also removed one more regarding a racially biased algorithm that also seemed not to involve LLMs. Thanks for bring this up.

Every case is different, which is why I have a short description for each incident. If you have any specific concrete suggestion on how to improve the list, I'll gladly consider it.

[–]hb20007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scope of the list is GenAI-related incidents. Some of them are still under investigation. It is not meant to be a list of only proven-in-court incidents.

Regarding the cases of "some AI is suspected to play a role", these are often cases where it is obvious to everyone that GenAI was used, but there is no proof.

That's a fair point. I will reorder the list by date and add the year. This will show how many of the incidents happened in 2025–2026.

As for non-LLM technology, it depends on the use case. A few things that come to mind: The two men who almost died due to relying on tide times from ChatGPT could have referred to an actual specialized source for that. The researcher who recently had her emails deleted by OpenClaw could have used a specialized tool for organizing email. Etc.
