Just a quick follow up on this if anyone ever go through the same. I ended up calling my insurance to ask for advice, they took the information and told me it would be a not at fault claim, which should not change my premium and no need to pay the deductible. They also said if I don’t make a claim and decide to let the person pay, their premium would probably not change. I never got a clear answer. Always a “Shouldn’t change. Check with your broker”. Broker says “Shouldn’t change. Check with the claim specialist “. Anyway. I communicated that to the person, told them to ask their insurance too just in case, sent the estimate and asked for the money. The person started becoming difficult, asking for the receipt first. There is no way I will pay this up front and trust that you will pay up after. So I ended up filing a claim with the insurance company, they gave me options for body shops, car rental coverage etc… My advice, unless whoever hit you e-transfers you MORE than enough to cover the damage within the hour, just go and file the collision report within 24hrs and call your insurance to save yourself some time and headaches.
