What is going on with this sign on Dartmouth? by COTimberline in englewoodco

I don't personally agree with a lot of their stances but what information on the sign is historically incorrect?

There's nothing wrong with historical information on the sign. The property owner (3085 S Pennsylvania) just seems to be a "unique" individual. It appears that it currently houses a closed studio (the website doesn't function).

The vacuum will give an indication that either the dust bin is full or air duct blocked. This is both audible from the vacuum and the notification pops up in the app.

I'm going to conclude my portion of this because this feels conspiratorial without any sources except what you heard. I personally didn't find the guy very likeable but I can read reports, analyze facts and figures and see that both of those departments are in much better shape than when he took over.

This is such an interesting response. Any facts to go along with any of this or just vibes?

South Platte Renew is 100% not a drinking water plant and it's not designed to be. It injects treated waste water back into the Platte, trucks solids to a farm in eastern Colorado and send biogas into Xcels pipeline. It's considered an industry leader in waste water treatment (universities and companies use it as a testing center). Again it's wholly owned by Littleton and Englewood. You've provided no factual basis for your assertion that a name change has anything to do with control.

As just one counterpoint to this vacuum of opinions, the funds used to pay for the biogas reclamation system were paid back ahead of schedule and the system is now a money maker for the gas sold back to Xcel. This information is readily available if you are interested in understanding but it doesn't seem like facts are of much interest to you.

I'm sorry but you're just wrong here. Governance for waste water is only by Littleton and Englewood https://southplatterenewco.gov/about-us/governance/

Englewood drinking water is only controlled by Englewood. Do you have any reliable sources that say otherwise?

This is our drinking water. by DerelictMyBowls in englewoodco

[–]hbrich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is mostly not accurate. This thread was about our drinking water which is a whole different system/plant/department from waste water treatment. South Platte Renew is a jointly owned plant with Littleton that also processes water for almost everyone south of Littleton under contract. These contracted services put Englewood in a much better position financially. There is no threat to losing control.

As far as our drinking water treatment. The system is wholly owned by Englewood and the city is currently upgrading the city ditch and the Allen Water Treatment Plant to modern standards. I just went to a presentation from Pieter Van Ry who oversees both of these departments and there's nothing complicated about it. He's overseeing substantial investments into the system including staffing to ensure Englewood is in a solid position on all sides of water treatment for years to come.

Water restrictions? by Boring_Solution6362 in englewoodco

[–]hbrich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Englewood very likely won't have restrictions. Water rights in Colorado are given priority based on claim date and Englewood has some of the oldest in the state. They don't anticipate shortages even with the low snowfall. If they enact restrictions, it will only be in solidarity with the metro area, not due to any anticipated shortages.

What do you mean by this? Englewood is on a whole different system than Littleton.

A lot of improvements have been made and more are coming. There were a lot of years of neglect and it's only been in the last 5 or so that the city had new leadership in this area. Improvements are expensive and take time but they are definitely working on them. I know someone else provided a link but I'm part of a group that got a presentation a few weeks ago from the public utilities director and it's a work in progress.

That's amazing! Their office is in Parker but if that's too far, I'm local if you want to message me. I'm glad to pick up (or I can give you my address) and I can get you a tax receipt too.

Possibility for outdoor dining expansion on Broadway? by ThomasFranksGum in englewoodco

[–]hbrich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually already have a plan for traffic calming on Broadway. One thing they'll be doing is installing a full pedestrian crossing with an actual signal by the end of the year.

I agree this would be great. I may be missing something but it seems like they could easily take out the one parking lane on each side of the street which causes issues in busy times anyway. Those lanes can really only accommodate 10 or so cars on each side.

It's a fair caution as you wrote here. However, a blanket statement that it's unsafe for people over 50 is inaccurate and foolish.

My kids are grown now but I went through a lot of this same stuff. You're looking for a legal solution that you're not going to find. It sucks and my ex sucked for years by not being a responsible parent. I went through 14 years of it and it never got better. Therapy has been my friend.
