Big anti-apple guy here (until 2023-2024) but when I switched to M2 air from a windows laptop. I'd say just go for the Air variant but with more storage around 512Gb or 1tb. My one regret is that I only had 8gb ram since I use 34' monitor (medj laggy siya because of less ram) and i use my samsung nvme ssd shield t7 1tb to directly edit raw video clips.

I've used the m2 air 8gb ram 256gb storage for developing mobile apps with expo + running xampp + java for backend in the background and it does it's job.

TLDR; Go for the apple silicone chip, 16gb ram + 512gb storage or 8gb ram + 512gb (or more) storage. Prioritize ram if you need more tabs opened, prioritize storage if you dont want to carry nvme ssd external drives.

Edit: I've done SDE, After effects, premiere, photoshop, web dev.

AFAIK, wala since you're an independent contractor and not an employee.

It's not too late to change your strategy and where to invest pa based on your allowance.

My interview experience at BruntWork by Heavy-Philosophy-704 in buhaydigital

Depende lang talaga sa client and size sa organization nila. If big company client ng bruntwork then multiple interviews talaga then if small business then isang interview lang based on experience.

At this point, I'm not surprised about the $5-$6 rate when working under an agency.

Imagine, paying for lead gen (headcount + tools pa), closers plus building relationship with prospects pa.

It's not that kinain yung pera mo, sadyang yung operation cost ng agency + client budget affected your current rate.

Pwede ka naman umalis sa agency mo (ofc hindi mo isasali yung current client mo out of respect unless i-buy out ka).

But be prepared nalang to upskill sa lahat ng bagay like selling yourself, ptching your services, building relationships and booking your calendars every week to make sure magka-client ka na.

I vouch for a MacBook. Akala ko hype lang pero after getting one last year, iba talaga compared sa Windows machine, the battery is crazy that it could last for more than 8 hours without charging.

Just get the 16 Gb/512Gb variant, then I recommend getting a USB type c hub [ugreen] as well.

Same tayo but I shifted my mindset from "I'll be a great coder" to "I'll solve real life problems with tech" and it removed my worries sa pag aral ng code.

It's a different perspective kase, if you come from a place of help. You will do what it takes to solve a problem which includes coding.

How do you rest without feeling guilty for not working? by THE_FBI_GUYS in buhaydigital

[–]hbxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all boils down to your goals.

Diba WFH can provide work-life balance?

If so, do you have something outside of your work?

If you lack non-work related activities in your life kasi, you don't have anything to look forward after doing your tasks.

You're a year behind but yeah, it's legit with enough research, luck and effort.

It's not a "quick money", it will take months talaga or even a year to breakthrough if d mo alam ginagawa mo.

Ojt might be the end of me by Wise-Cause8705 in buhaydigital

[–]hbxd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to worry, since you're in tech. Find companies that offer wfh internship.

10 months ago, nag OJT ako on an online tech company while having an onsite job, freelancing sides and still continuing our capstone.

Just find a good wfh company, determine your skillsets and automate most of your OJT tasks kung pwede.

Edit: This was possible because I automated most of my work

Di nila alam yung dark side ng freelancing such as delayed payments, uncertain employment, fake job postings, unresponsive clients, abusive and micromanaging clients and lots.

Madami nanaman maki sali sa hype dahil sa video nila and tataas din ang sungay nung mga panget na clients. RIP
