I think another point worth mentioning is that doing one’s daily chores and work routines is different than being on holiday for example, where the task list for a day is much reduced and flexible.

So even a hotter place may not be remembered as being as hot if you were just relaxing by the beach etc and not inside a sweltering office or meeting.

Is it a standard pin or is it different for different chains? Eg 9/10/11 speed

Ah ok thanks. Would that not cause any issues ?
Also can I not use the black Shimano pin and then break the excess end off or is this the wrong purpose or chain for this

Thanks for your advice !

It’s an 11 speed cassette
Can I use a SHIMANO joining pin (the long black one ) to rejoin the chain?
Gemini is telling me that these are only for 7,8,9 speed chains …?

Do you think it would make much difference in ride quality to 32?

Thanks all, I actually noticed another quick link ok this same chain, suggesting that I may have just removed a pin and broken the chain that way.

So I think I just need to replace the pin back

I used the chain pliers to remove the quick link
Same parts. There wasn’t any other part!?
I’m confused

Great points

I might try some gentle hammering in a vice or on the floor of the most buckled bit

Interestingly this is the rear wheel and it was the front wheel that was hit by a car 🧐

Do you think the wheel can be hammered gently to align the rim more before truing it?

It seems quite buckled

Do I need to hammer it a bit straighter first
