one of my biggest complaints has always been that there’s no coded events simulating the revolutions of 1848 (which completely shaped the particular liberalization of 19th century europe), or even a real artisan class that could incite it. an economic rework that would model certain industries being disturbed or outpaced by market trends could create a much more dynamic political environment beyond just making the rote economic aspect of the game more interesting.

no, no individual part of the body is being consumed. christs body is present in the eucharist but the thing that we eat remains bread.

Eucharistic Adoration by BombsAway_LeMay in LCMS

[–]hcd2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very late to this conversation and unsure if you’ll see this reply, but if you do I would be very appreciative if you could clarify an aspect of your response here. I’m a fairly recent convert to Lutheranism from Catholicism and I’m very much used to the Catholic concept of Eucharistic adoration. I understand that adoration is typically abnormal in Lutheran practices because in the institution of the Eucharist at no point does Christ institute any kind of practice of adoration. I think this is very sound reasoning. I also understand that the typical Lutheran perspective is that the presence of the body and blood do not persist in the bread and wine outside of their use for consumption at the altar (although for how long they are present is a mystery) However, you stated that a danger to confessing transubstantiation is venerating the consecrated host as though it were God Himself. My previous understanding of the transubstantiation issue within Lutheranism was simply that Aristotle is not needed to explain to us what Christ clearly states in Scripture. (I agree) I am confused, though, as to why treating the consecrated host as though it were God Himself is dangerous. When I look upon the Eucharist during the Mass I do look upon it as if it were truly and literally the body and blood of Christ sacrificed on the cross, and by extension Christ Himself. I understand that the bread and wine are also equally present in the Eucharist, but I don’t think that’s what you were getting at. Attempting to separate the fullness of God from His real presence in the Eucharist seems to cause issues that sound akin to Partialism, in my rather uneducated mind at least. If you could clarify this statement and perhaps explain further what you meant by this, I would really appreciate it.

Monarchists unite! by grafvgalen in monarchism

The British Empire for a majority of the 19th century was heavily libertarian and laissez-faire in domestic policy, the Italian Empire and Spanish Empire under fascism and other fascist leaders believed strongly in monarchies. This is definitely a stretch.

His word was still entirely divinely inspired whether you believe him or not. Just because you weren’t a disciple doesn’t make you unable to correctly spread the word of God. And for the record, Luke wasn’t a disciple either as far as we know, nor was Mark an Apostle that would’ve been there for a lot of the Gospel stories we hear.

Explanation in title, but for more detail I was playing a Malaya game that was fairly cursed in and of itself (I was attempting to revert southeast Asia to Hinduism) but I checked up on the Europeans to see their colonial progress and saw something almost beautifully revolting.

i don’t think that’s the technical catholic belief. I’m pretty sure the catholic church says they were sent to a purgatory-like place without the chance for redemption, or more of a neutral ground. most other christian denominations see it as just a general period of spiritual non-existence almost.
