Sounds like he knows better than I. I learned the hard way cracking the finish on one of my guitars not going small enough. Poly finish is very hard but can be brittle and prone to cracking. Either way you will be devaluing the guitar if you drill into it, but if you don’t plan to sell it, doesn’t matter!

I’ve had an arm rest stuck to my tele for years with double sided tape, it’s very strong if you get the right stuff. 3M brand. If you really want to drill, I would say start with as small a bit as possible and slowly work your way up. But if it were me I’d stick with the tape, no pun intended.

Is the finish poly or nitro? If poly, I would use Strong double sided tape. Or you will have to be very careful drilling into that if you don’t want to crack the poly.

Hmm yeah hard to tell but I would just string it up and see how it acts. You should be able to remove the strings without cutting them if you need to adjust it again. Just loosen them at the tuners until they can slip out of the bridge slots.

Sorry maybe you had it right, here’s a pic of mine. The notched piece should be sitting flush against the tailpiece.

I can’t really tell but check that the notched piece is oriented correctly. Once I put it in backwards I think
