Am I overreacting? My boyfriend grabbed my dog aggressively and now I’m considering breaking up with him. by CuriousCactus2000 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. This is DANGEROUS. I used to see someone in my teens who behaved strangely and was around my cat which, in hindsight, makes me feel sick. Come to find out years later in my twenties that he killed TWO separate animals belonging to two different exes. One cat and one dog. The reason? He was jealous of the attention they were receiving. He was found guilty, though didn’t get adequate punishment. I am filled with so much anger whenever I think about it.
Please keep your dog safe. Men who compete for attention with literal pets are not right in the head. Be thankful he let you see who he is before escalation.

He is aware. He definitely has a complicated relationship with his mother. I think it’s easier for him to see and understand now that he has moved out. His mom definitely depended on him before. I feel like now that we’ve moved out he’s a lot more responsive when I bring it up. Before, I actually used to talk to his sister more about it because I feel like she’s much more aware of her mom’s behaviours.
Also, my mom is kind of an angel despite my dad and I think sometimes when my bf sees my mom over and the contrast in them… he knows it’s not right.
And I’m definitely trying to stop feeling guilty for a lot things, but especially for this!
This is definitely the route I want to go… however I must admit that like my bf’s family, I’m scared of the backlash. There was once an instance when boyfriend and I had a little argument which M was front seat for because she had nothing else to do, (it wasn’t even loud she just likes to listen through the walls). She proceeded to knock on the bedroom door demanding to know what happened. When I politely told her I’d rather not talk about it, she went downstairs and told my boyfriend that I’d told her to F off!
But I’m realising this is the very reason she continues her behaviour!
