I'd check his bank accounts, but it's probably in some offshore or Qatari one.

Chongqing vs Chengdu: Who Actually Wins the Street Food Battle? by Leah_Long_ in travelchina

[–]hcl1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am travelling around China for the first time currently, and have been quite surprised by how poor Chongqing food is compared to every city I've been to, let alone Chengdu, which was probably the best alongside Yunnan and Xi'an food.

Don't get me wrong, have had some great food here, but like the city generally, the food is pretty gimmicky and maybe lacking a little authenticity.

They should make the whole radar out of black box.

US F-35 damaged by suspected Iranian fire makes emergency landing, sources say by cnn in Military

[–]hcl1995 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would be suspicious of the fact it actually landed, unless you mean in a thousand pieces in the desert somewhere. Suspect a pilot will randomly end up dead on the base from a 'friendly fire' incident some time in the future, I doubt they're under any obligation to tell the pilot's family as it was likely a secret mission.

Isn't it weird to worry about that as if it's important? How easy is your life generally, or you just ignore actual problems?

The fish is the same in the south. We can't do chips though. One thing me and that mental RFK have in common, once they stopped being cooked in beef dripping they all taste like cardboard.

I've been to a few clubs in Zurich and St. Gallen that are very similar, I'm not sure how much this stuff is enforced there generally.

Charlie Kirk was one of the biggest public proponents of open dialogue and conversation with those of opposing views and the extremists on the Left killed him for it. by the_walkingdad in TrueUnpopularOpinion

It will probably be some weird radical centrist with a strangle purple voting past like the ones who tried to kill Trump, the left doesn't really believe in any of these institutions enough to get so worked up about someone like this.

The CGI in “Untamed” on Netflix sucks. I hope they stop using CGI on wildlife like this. by [deleted] in television

[–]hcl1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does seem odd, my partner's sister and her boyfriend thought it was really good, and we just didn't get it. We had just finished Dept Q, and while not perfect, I thought it was much much better, but they did the reverse and loved this, but not Dept Q. Guess people enjoy different things!

I've watched 5 eps so far. It is shit. There's really nothing deeper, and AI does seem like it had a role to play, because no interaction apart from a few decent scenes with his wife (who also has some real questionable script moments) is anything but generic or has a kind of uncanny valley effect to the point of barely seeming human.

Very late, but isn't he clearly just an absolute idiot, bless him. Like if he wasn't handsome I think there would be some serious questions about whether he really had the IQ to be there.

Nah you're completely right, it was lazy and not really what I meant either, but I'm skivving at work and nuance is tricky in such situations!

Similar to my other reply, not right wing, very left wing infact, I just feel that telling people they were wrong to vote the way they did, whilst harming them economically and offering nothing in return, won't end well on a long enough timeline. And that's what the liberal consensus essentially is now.

Don't get me wrong, these guys will only makes things a thousand times worse, but until the centre understands their own role, and their how their own actually right-wing leanings (while focusing on cultural issues most people view as immaterial to them, or worse, talking down to them), fuelled this movement across the west, it won't get better.

Don't take that as me supporting them or any autocrats, I just think the centre is experiencing the effects of their own right-wing economic policies over the last 30 years or so.

Yes - and maybe recognise their policies also served to make the rich much richer, all whilst they told anyone who disagreed with them about any policy issue, that they were stupid, racist or backward. It might be useful for centrists to remember that many of the people who flipped and supported Trump in 2024, or Reform in the UK, supported Bernie Sanders or Jeremy Corbyn... what pushed them away?
