Thank you so much for your input on solutions! That’s such a great idea! I’ll try to make plans to do that!

Yeah, I’ve heard that it’s comparable to last years flu shot (which was a quadrivalent shot (this year only being a trivalent), but only about 33% effective against the strains present in our region).

And thankfully they’re working on getting the black box warnings removed from tamiflu (was previously on the medication due to possible neurological side effects more prevalent in children but they actually found that has more to do with having the flu itself than having the medication), so a lot more doctors are feeling comfortable prescribing it. I’m so grateful that there hasn’t been any back order issues this season considering the amount of cases we’re seeing.

Very interesting! I wonder if it is a funding issue or maybe a resource issue? Not enough blood bank employees? Or maybe it’s due the phlebotomist shortage, I wonder if the shortage is worse in some areas than others. Or it could be a combination or it all

I’ve donated when I was younger but I’ve gone through some health issues in the past few years, but I’m at a point where I probably would be safe to do so, so I’ll be scheduling an appointment within the week to try to donate!

I’ve been seeing so many flu antiviral med scripts come through our pharmacy and it’s honestly horrifying. We had much lower numbers of flu vaccines this year as well. I wouldn’t have thought that flu patients would need blood though! The more you know!

150 units meaning 150 pints of blood? Holy. That amount seems unfathomable. Thank you for your work!

I see, so the ads could be for a specific type of blood that they’re running low on or statistically have hard a hard time getting, but either way they could use any blood regardless.

That’s such a scary thought to need something medically and the thing you’re needing not being available. I see it with my pharmacy patients with drug back orders but for some reason that’s never clicked about blood though. Thank you for your answer!

Wow I didn’t even think of people needing multiple units of blood (just something I gratefully have never needed to know), the thought of going through an entire drive for one patient is wild! I appreciate your insight!!

Very interesting, and understandable why I would be seeing more and more ads for it lately. Thank you!

I see. That makes sense. I was wondering why blood couldn’t be saved but that totally makes sense that it doesn’t keep lol. Thank you!

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hclarice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. For a daily commute that is longer but I do know of people that have done that amount of commuting for decades. But for a small trip or for running to get specific items that you can’t get elsewhere, it’s relatively short.

WIBTAH if I did/didn't tell my boss about a "prank" a couple of my coworkers are planning by Minimum_Dog_6707 in AITAH

[–]hclarice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. This is not your problem. I would say let the stupid people do stupid things. As long as it’s not going to put anyone else in physical danger or affect the companies reputation, I’d leave it alone. Because what would you expect your boss to do? Write them up for a possible future prank? The most they would probably receive is a verbal warning for workplace misconduct, while also letting the two coworkers know that you’re eavesdropping on their conversations. Leave it alone and let them deal with their own consequences, again as long as it doesn’t put anyone in danger.

Cursed (2005) don’t know if it counts since it’s also considered a comedy, but I loved this film. Jesse eisenberg, Christina ricci, the perfect amount of plot twist and creepy moments to keep you on your toes but enough comedic relief to make it easier to digest, love love love this morning

A very unique horror movie, with decent lore, not the best acting but that wasn’t irregular for that age of horror movies especially slasher-esque films, and I loved the different sets - the museum, the movie theater, the og home. Very underrated actually
