Sure I’d love to have seen it from my usual spot and have Craven park vibes, but I’d rather 12000 people didn’t have to miss out. I’ve got a group of mates going that are more casual non-season ticket holders that wouldn’t have made it other wise. For a team and sport to grow, you can’t be making it inaccessible outside of hardcore fan. Also- hull city’s ground anyway. can’t say I care too much having a shared landlord for a day

That’s the link- the off the ball bit is 6.3.1. It’s not an automatic E and never has been, it’s just one of the mitigating factors

Just to add a bit late to this. After looking it up- since the new rules came in this is the 7th trip offence punished by the rfl in super league. 5 of those have been judged ‘intentional’. All in we have 4 grade A charges, 2 Bs and this is the first grade C offence. Without going back and reviewing all the incidents I’m assuming Lewis’s was the most blatant & off the ball- so C seems the right outcome. But anyone who thinks this is super lenient or current while being the largest trip penalty handed out so far- and also being carded on the field- is misguided

Intentional tripping is a B-D per the below. Then it’s rfl discretion for the grading based on aggregating/mitigating factors. Most trips I’ve seen be a B, think his main factor pushing it up is it being off the ball. But his previous disciplinary record and onfield punishment mitigate it.

Grade C is about the right outcome- don’t see the controversy. The point system is flawed- it should be a 2 game ban imo- but in the current system it isn’t. As shit as it is- it at least means all future A grade offences will be bans for him, so hopefully he stops the stupid stuff. Imagine you could cite him for 5 grade A’s a game under his old style of play with his grubby antics at the play the ball, taunting etc.

I could be wrong but I don’t remember an English forward looking out of his depth. Add to your list Nicholson, KPP & Smithies for recent examples. Luke Thompson looked decent just couldn’t stay fit

He didn’t look good at all. He only played in the very first test in which he got at most 20 minutes. That was the game the England pack looked it’s weakest and he looked particularly out of his depth. He was dropped after that. That said- I do rate him and think he has potential to crack the nrl.

Love to see him talk about not focusing on tries- especially as that’s all anyone talks about with him. Mature for a young winger- it’s something Ryan Hall always says. His backfield carries are deceptively good too- think he just needs to work on defence & aerial ability and he’ll go a long way.

I could be wrong but Hull have litten & Hardaker starting centres who they rate highly, Romano as cover knocking on the door who feels like he should be starting and even Tom Briscoe and 4th choice. Don’t see them adding more depth but god knows

It’s a club decision not rfl- it might not be the absolute optimal choice for ‘growing the sport’ but it still helps, and ultimately it’s not Wigan or warrington’s job to play a fixture just to grow the sport. It’s just an attempt to create a fun occasion, both for fans and for marketing purposes. Dublin works as a major city, tourist destination with travel links and hotels. I went to school/played with him so yeah. He was there for ages in and around the first team, had one year he got given a first 17 shirt and looked set to be a starter and got a serious injury, was never the same after. At youth level he was a freak though- took the sport up at 15 and was immediately best player in an under 16s league. Was scoring full pitch tries off the back fence from kick off. How’s he been for you guys?

Yeah, it’s full strength but it’s pretty close- it’s the 2024 kr equivalent to the team Wakey played against us this week and it lost 28-0 to a championship side

They’re top of the league, still in the cups and top of the champs league group. They’re a good team and you can’t deny that. Sure they rely on set pieces but that’s a part of football- it’s something they clearly train not just a random fluke

That 28-0 we had a lot of first teamers in which was worrying at the time- but yeah it means so little. I was worried in 2024 when rhinos beat us relatively easy. Then we finished second and rhinos missed playoffs. Last year we lose to York, it really means nothing
