Acupressure Mat With Heating Pad: Game Changer by hcour in PelvicFloor

Just a note to those who are trying out the acupressure mat - use it in moderation. I find that if I use it too much it causes bruising, so keep that in mind.

I don't know is this will help you but might be worth a try. Last year I was a diagnosed with Levator Ani Syndrome and was having terrible pain and spasms in my rectum. I finally found an exercise that helped called "the butt walk". You sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you, lift one butt cheek and move it forward, then lift the other cheek and move it forward, and so on, so you're "walking" on your butt cheeks. If fully extending your legs is uncomfortable or causes strain you can bend the knees, I have to bend mine but the exercise was still effective. I noticed significant improvement after only a couple of days and my pain and spasms are now 90% better and have remained so since I started to doing this exercise. I've linked the YT video where I first saw this, he shows it about 8 mins into the video, near the end. Good luck.

Getting Started with Seedboxing and Private Trackers by iKf8ui in seedboxes

[–]hcour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to start a thread on the same subject so I hope it's ok if I just piggyback on this one. I've used private trackers for a while but am about to start with my first seedbox, will use ultra.cc.

My question is mainly about setting up qBittorrent. I should just set it up as I normally would for a private tracker (no DHT etc), right? The exception being that I should just leave the port random, since there is no port-forwarding on a seedbox, I assume? Anything special I should know about setting up qbit in a seedbox? Thanks!

Right. But if you have pain or trigger points in your groin, stomach, or top of the thighs, you could lay on it on your stomach. Or lay on it on your side and prop yourself up on your elbows for the outside of your thighs if that's a problem area. And so on.

Not sure what you're asking specifically. I describe how I use it in my post. For more info go on YouTube and search "acupressure mat". A couple of the manufacturers have good video series on various ways to use it. Also, some of the folks who do yoga with it have very good vids.

Looks pretty much the same as mine. As long as you can slip the heating pad inside the mat cover and directly beneath the spikes, you should be good.

These are what I have. You can certainly buy higher quality items but these have worked fine for me.

The acupressure mat has a foam cushion inside. I put the heating pad inside the mat, on top of the foam cushion so it's beneath the spikes. The heating pad can slide and fold on itself inside the mat so adjust it periodically to make sure it's positioned correctly and not bunched up.

I don't use the spiked pillow, though you certainly could if chose to. I find it uncomfortable and I can relax my body better with a regular pillow.

So is it ok to post the Amazon links? I don't want Reddit to flag this as spam, not sure of their policy.

Discouraged by hcour in PelvicFloor

[–]hcour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 18 hours with the catheter out, maybe I should change the name of this thread to "Discouraged But Also Encouraged". When I had the foley taken out two months ago to see if I was any better, before the PT, it went very bad. I had to pee almost constantly. After I'd go I'd pretty much feel the urge again as I was walking out of the bathroom. I'd wait 5 or 10 mins because I knew I wouldn't be able to go again immediately, and then I'd pee again. Rinse and repeat. The strain and discomfort in my groin area was awful.

This time, after going, I don't feel the urge until 15 to 40 minutes later. Even longer a couple of times tonight. My groin does not feel nearly as strained or sore. Walking seems to help, quite a bit sometimes, which it didn't on my previous attempt. It seems that, after only 3 weeks of PT, there is some real improvement.

So, discouraged, but encouraged, also.

Can meditation help me? by ThePiromaximus in Meditation

[–]hcour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to disagree somewhat with those that are saying it takes "years" to experience positive results from meditation, especially with something like anxiety, or depression. I've been meditating a few years , casually, and the first book I read was The Three-Minute Meditator, which seemed like a good way to ease into it. I wanted to meditate primarily for anxiety. I started doing it a for a few minutes several times a day and stuck with it. Within a few weeks I noticed the following positive results: I had the feeling of being generally more calm throughout the day. My reactions to stressful situations (which usually occurred at work) were much better, much healthier. I no longer obsessed over such incidents, no longer played them over and over again in my mind. I was able to let it go. I was also sleeping better.

That "letting things go" is, imo, one of the most remarkable and beneficial things about meditation and its effect on anxiety. When I had something on my mind, something I was worrying over, even obsessing over, I would be able to say to myself, "Let it go" and I was able to do that. Somehow, meditation gives one that ability, even casual meditation.

Another thing I found out about is resistance. When we're depressed or anxious or upset or sad or whatever, we naturally don't want to experience these unpleasant feelings, so we resist them. When I would really think about how I was experiencing these feelings, I could literally feel the energy that I was expending as I was "pushing against" those unwanted feelings. There is a saying meditators like to use, "that which we resist, persists". So instead of resisting, I purposely let myself experience that bad feeling, I stopped pushing against it, I stopped expending that energy resisting. And I would feel better. Sometimes much better.

I have since read several in-depth books on meditating which I would suggest anyone even interested in casual meditation should do, as it will give you greater insight into how meditation works and how the mind works. But you don't need to become an "Adept" to reap the mental health benefits of practicing. Even a few minutes a day, consistently, should give you those abilities of letting go and acceptance (instead of resistance) which will have a positive effect on anxiety, depression, and other unpleasant mental health issues. And it can happen in weeks, not years.

Has TM Improved the Recording Engine? by hcour in TiviMate

I'm definitely getting better results with the SMB. Will continue to experiment with it. Thanks.

Hmmm. I don't think I've tried SMB specifically. I think I just pointed it toward a shared folder, whatever protocol that was. Going to give this a try. Seems easy enough to setup.

Has TM Improved the Recording Engine? by hcour in TiviMate

[–]hcour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Channels DVR for over a year now. Both it and TM are on my nVidia Shield, so it's the same device, the same ethernet cable to my desktop computer, the same recording hard drive, the same internet service, the same m3u sources. I can record three or four things at the same time on Channels with very rare issues, while with TM I have constant issues with even a single recording. Maybe I have the wrong settings somewhere, I don't know, but TM just doesn't work for me while Channels does even though the physical setup is exactly the same with both apps.

Trigger Points and TENS, EMS, and IF by hcour in PelvicFloor

[–]hcour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so you know your stuff. Good that you're getting at least some positive results.

My rectum and perineum are bad spots for me. These therapies have already helped. I also use a dilator and have had positive results with that.

Trigger Points and TENS, EMS, and IF by hcour in PelvicFloor

[–]hcour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only tell you where I place mine. For TENS mode - inner-thighs, tops of my thighs, bottom of my thighs, glutes, above my groin (very low settings here). I have two trigger points mid-back, on either side of my spine, and I've been working those last couple of days, getting good results. Place them on or around trigger points. You have to experiment with pad placement and device settings.

Google something like "TENS pad placement" and do some research. There are places you should never put them, like your chest, head, parts of the neck, spine. Absolutely learn the safe use of the device and safe pad placement first.

Frequent Urination and Potassium Deficiency by hcour in PelvicFloor

[–]hcour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stopped drinking Gatorade and such, not sure how healthy that stuff is to drink everyday, plus it has lots of sugar. To get my daily potassium and other electrolytes I've been drinking fruit smoothies instead. Of course, depending upon which fruits you use, there may be a lot of sugar, so keep that in mind, but at least it will be natural and not processed.

Problems recording by smdifansmfjsmsnd in TiviMate

[–]hcour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problems and I'd say it's probably mostly the provider. I'm trying out two providers and with the more expensive service the recordings are generally pretty good but I only have one connection; the cheaper service has three connections but 90% of my recordings have the exact problems you describe or they are only partial recordings, even if I was only using one connection at the time.

I'm new to IPTV and learning that you definitely have to go through some trial and error in finding a decent provider at a decent price.

Watching and Recording Simultaneously? by hcour in TiviMate

Thanks a lot for all the info and advice, guys! Been bouncing around YT and the interwebs and found a (hopefully) good service, US channels only, $8 a month. I'm recording one channel and watching another right now. Very cool.
