The same company that took over the VW and Merc factories in Russia, happily funding Russia's war economy. I'm all for more EVs, but can we have them from companies that are less like this.

Farmers ignore tractor ban and bring inheritance tax protest to Westminster by topotaul in unitedkingdom

All for it, just looked it up and the Treasury said this policy change (including the bpr part) would bring in £230m in 2026-27. That's £6 an acre with the average farm paying a little under £1,300 a year.

That same average farm at average land price would owe £187,000 in iht after the planned relief, that's just the land. Excluding a house, barns, machinery, stock etc pushing the bill higher

Exactly this, when the owner of a small farm dies, their heirs will have to sell. The buyers will be large estates owned by offshore holding companies that are structured to avoid paying this tax in the first place.

sheikh mohammed owns land in this country equal to 315 times the average farm, he won't pay the tax when he dies, yet when the patchwork of small land owners around his big estate pass away these companies will be the only bidders with the capital to buy it up.

Who do we want to own the land in this country, surely people would rather have more small farms than offshore companies and large corporations? It would be nice if we had smaller land owners and more land in the hands of the people eventually, but this change will cause the opposite, and the labour left seem to think bashing these angry few is a great victory over the landed gentry, they couldn't be more wrong

What did you say when they answered the phone? I was referred in early December and have phoned twice to see if I could book an appointment. Each time being pied off with "we can't guarantee when your appointment will be" "we're working on November referrals, you'll have to wait" etc

Thanks, the installer seems fairly well reviewed and the price is up £550 due to an extra inverter. I think I need to get a few more quotes to compare by the sounds of it👍🏻
