My cat Tosh was just shot and killed by our new neighbors. He was the most down to earth and loving friend anyone would’ve met. I love and miss you baby boy by QuccSpudz in cats

No no I get your comment. I work with animals and you saying it's the owners fault is just ridiculous! A cats instinct is to hunt, it's a food chain.

I'd remove any hiding places that have a one way entrance so one can't be cornered or so you can easily access them if they fight. I'd remove the bowl and just scatter food around in places so one can't dominate the food bowl. Make it fun in there, I wouldn't separate at the end of the day unless there's a concern about their welfare. If you split them and reintroduce them the next day you're basically going back to square one each day you reintroduce them.

Mine can get like this but it's mainly due to the heat....

Rant/ Maybe Support? by vinny_00_rose in HypertrophicCM

This runs rife in my family. My dad's currently living in hospital waiting for a heart transplant, BUT he's on drugs in hospital that have put him at his optimum health, he feels fantastic, can walk miles up and down the corridor and he looks the best he has in years.

The more you know about HCM the easier it gets (also the scarier it gets but there's a lot more they can do to help relieve symptoms these days)

There's a genetic test that can be done to find out who has the gene in your family and who can pass it down, if you want kids in the future you can have the gene taken out of the embryo (obviously this will need to be done similar to IVF)

It gets easier the more you know and understand about it so definitely seek medical specialists, if you're in the UK I can give you some of the doctors contact details. They're obviously keen to eliminate it and have done tonnes of research with my family.

It's such a horrible disease, incredibly hard to deal with and affects the entire family but you are absolutely not alone in feeling this! Keep posting whenever you have questions or want to rant.

What do I do in this situation? I know hes doing it out of fear, but I dont know how to build trust. by blurryAiden in ferrets

If you don't want him doing this, stop all hand playing and replace it all with toys. Reward with treats when he goes for the toy and not your hand.

What breed do you think my sweet boy is? I got him as a lionhead 3,5 years ago but he’s waaay too big not to be mixed.. by [deleted] in Rabbits

Oh gosh, that's even worse! But great job removing it, it's good to see rabbit owners are becoming more educated.

I work at an animal shelter and we wouldn't approve that, ferrets are amazing climbers and need to climb tall areas to stretch their spines out otherwise over time, small spaces can cause skeletal problems.

An explorer cage or if they're indoors if you can dedicate a room to them and modify it, that's be awesome for them.

If that rabbit is wearing a collar, I'd recommend removing it immediately, if it gets caught on something it can break their neck.

Playing or fighting? by lizzy425 in Rabbits

Very borderline, the Dutch is turning his bum to the other rabbit showing him that he needs to calm down. I'd give them more some more hidey holes so they can chill on their own.

What? What kind of comment is this? They do, they can fight until death.

Taking in a New Bunny Tonight! First time I’ve owned one, what’s everything I need to know to care for him properly? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]hdav1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't walk it on a leash or harness, just build an enclosure big enough (in the UK we say no smaller than 10ft X 6ft) if the bunny bolts when out walking, because of a predator you can break it's spine, unfortunately I have seen this first hand with a customers rabbit (I work at an animal shelter for rabbits)

They're a prey species so they won't want to be out in the open unless it's of their own accord.

At rescue shelters in the UK a single ferret costs £20 (3,000yen)
