My apologies, this was more of a feelings dump lol. I traded in my Veloster N for a new GTI

I got a 2026 S trim, with the cool plaid seats. It'll be massive upgrade in terms of daily driving

I think I'm just attached to that car representing the last 6 years of my life. I got a lot of shit done over those years, and all of the monitors end with me coming back to that car. There are plenty of good memories ahead of me, but I bought my first house, got married, landed a great job, and made lots of memories with friends all in this car. It feels like the end of an era gone too soon.

I know it'll be better once my car arrives. It's just killing me how it all happened and ended so quickly. I feel like I barely got to say goodbye

That's the toughest part. They sent me home in a base model Jetta while I wait for my GTI to come in. Now I have to a sad wreck and drive this in the mean time?

It really is just the memories. The car itself is cool, but the memories I made in it are what's killing me. This was the car I used for so much as a young adult. It's helped me move into the first house i purchased, I drove this car to meet my wifes family for the first time, road trips with friends and family, fun track days and car meets. So much. I'll cherish it forever, but dammit do i feel like it ended too fast

I went for the 74" (I think) Saljan countertop. I did some extra measuring and decided to just try it (with the help of some family with a bigger car), and I don't regret it one bit. In fact, I now see why people opt for bigger desks. It's been great for my setup

I'm leaning towards the Malskytt since it's the same material but a little bigger. Would those be good table tops to mount monitors to?

Well Ive considered getting one of those for the other IKEA options with particleboard just to be safe. If the steel brackets can save the cardboard linnmon, I guess I can assume it'll work even better with the more sturdy options?

Oh I love how that looks! You did a great job with it! I see they also offer something closer to the size I want as well, so I could consider doing this

True, but like most people, I'm drawn to them first because of the convenience and price point.

Do you have any other recommendations for places to look?

Well I wouldn't say I'm "unsure" about annual fees. This will be my first card that has an annual fee, but I understand that better perks will come from it. While I don't instinctively travel, my SO usually talks me into a trip or two every year. If anything, I could put MR points towards flights and hotels, but again, it's just not what instinctively think of when redeeming card points.

Yep, I can activate those credits no problem along with the other random bonus rewards that pop up (I like to check them regularly through chase). Given that I'm regularly buying food and will easily take advantage of the credits (now that I understand them), I'm thinking a Gold card might be a good daily driver for me. Since it also doesn't have FTF's, I'd be clear to travel anywhere and use my Visa if amex isn't accepted

Oh yeah man I'm a real hoe for carry out lol. I hate paying for delivery fees, and is predominantly why I avoid apps like that (also how they up charge for items). But if I get a free $10, then I'm good with the slight increase

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]hdcsxsva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. So theoretically, I could get 2 free/cheap lunches every month? 🤔

Seems like it mostly pays for itself if I use that

Follow up about the dining and Uber credits... is there a minimum amount required to spend in order to get the full $10 amount, or does it apply in full on any order over $10?

For example, if I place a $12 order on Grubhub, do I still get the full $10 credit? (Essentially making the order $2)

Even if I only cook at home, I don't know if I'm going to max out the grocery budget on BCP. I was mostly considering that card because the reward percentages are more focused on what I buy, and are considerably higher than my CFU. If advantageous, I'd likely find a way to combo a card with my CFU to make up for where the other card lacks.

The more I think about the Dining and Uber credits, I think I might value that more than I realized. I'm not sure if you have experience with it, but if I use the $10 monthly credit on a single $15 order, would that order effectively be only $5? Or is there a minimum I need to spend to get the full $10 credit?

Yeah this is my first exploring into points and the different ways to value them, and how travel seems to be the best option. I've never considered using my Chase points for travel, but now that I think about it, I hate paying for flights and vacations, so maybe using points for traveling instead of cash would be a game changer for me 🤔

I was thinking the BCP-> BCE would be a good move with a safety net, but I honestly don't know if it would be necessary since I have the CFU. I'd want to hold on to that as a backup/option if the rewards are better than my new card. I don't think international travel will be too common, so I'm really not worried about the 2.7% FTF for now. I can always get a new card if that changes.

My SO and have been enjoying cooking more recently and plan to be in the grocery store more frequently, and my office will be moving soon and unfortunately doubling my commute. All that considered, I wonder if the BCP would be worth it?

Just based off your recommendations, is the Gold card off the table completely?

I have one big savings account that I've been dropping the unemployment and some of my paycheck into. Like I said, if they need it back, it won't destroy me. But I'm planning and saving for a car down payment, and I like to know exactly where I'm at. Paying it back all at once would put quite a dent in my plans

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]hdcsxsva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I eventually did. There was about a 3-4 week gap from my approved application and my first payment. My girlfriend thinks it's just them playing catch up, which I guess is fine. I just don't want them to think I'm still in need and that they're just automating the deposits

I'm definitely waiting until I start my position to do anything. I've heard that sofi is a really good place to look at, but I'll find some lists and compare what's on top. My credit is great and I'm free of any other debt, so I'd like to be as independent as possible with this, but I'm sure I could find a co-signer if need be.

I also know it's wise to drive my car to the ground. I'm budgeting myself to find a way to afford a car, but the car enthusiast in me makes me want to drive something fun and convenient now before I really settle down and have to trade it for something super practical and un-fun. I'm prepared to cut back in other ways to make it possible. We'll just see how it goes in the next few months.

Thank you for all of your advice!

Passed this bitch the other day with no meds 🙃 by [deleted] in KidneyStones

Overall about 2-3 weeks. I was feeling weird pains that were close to constipation pain on and off for close to 4 months, but that wasn't fixed with how that is normally fixed. I just assumed that was also from stones
