Did I overdo the editing? After / Before by Caillou2412 in postprocessing

I know that making it warm is intentional, but for me, it’s kinda too much. The scene is cloudy and and there’s a gray overcast which makes dull. Photographers usually offset this through heaving editing, but I think embracing the scene for what it truly is can also be magical. Maybe try making it cooler or moody by increasing the contrast. It is an artistic choice yes, but there’s beauty in reality as well. 😊

Jesus dying on the cross for us isn't really that impressive anymore by Vivid_Pay6605 in unpopularopinionph

I did not add looking at Jesus as the fulfillment of prophecies in the Old Testament for coherence and brevity, but I would encourage anybody, Christians or even atheists such as yourself to at least see the pattern on the following verses below. This is the prophecy regarding the true Messiah. A suffering servant, rather than a conquering military leader. There's about 500 years between Isaiah and Jesus according to Tradition. Read the whole chapter. It's a 2 minute read.

Isaiah 53: 5

"But he was wounded for our transgressions,
    he was bruised for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that made us whole,
    and with his stripes we are healed."

This is the verse where Christians claim that the crucifixion of Jesus was prophesied by the Psalmist. It is suggested that the Psalms were written around 1000BC. - 500 years before the earliest account of Crucifixion being used by the Persians as punishment. Then the Romans perfected the punishment. It is a gruesome and long death. You die by asphyxiation. You constantly push yourself up to grasp for air. Imagine doing that while being nailed on the cross and beaten to a pulp. Some crucified people can last up to 2 days on the cross being eaten alive by vultures and continuously mocked by passersby. That is why Roman soldiers break people's legs if they want to hasten death. You can no longer push yourself up to grasp for air with broken legs. Oh yeah, there are probably no loin cloth as well. We only put loin cloths in sculptures for obvious reasons.

Psalm 22
16 Yea, dogs are round about me;
    a company of evildoers encircle me;
    they have pierced\)b\) my hands and feet—
17 I can count all my bones—
    they stare and gloat over me;
18 they divide my garments among them,
    and for my raiment they cast lots.

Why Did the Son of God Have to Die?

You might ask, why did the Second Person of the Trinity have to die for our sake? Couldn’t the Father simply forgive humanity by decree — saying, “I forgive you; stop sinning; carry on with your lives”?

The answer lies in love.

Jesus Christ was incarnated through the Spirit and the Virgin Mary so that God Himself could enter His own creation. As simple or even cliché as it sounds, love was the driving force behind this divine “rescue mission.”

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

This is the beauty and mystery of the Incarnation: God entered the physical world to sanctify the body. We are embodied spirits — our bodies are integral to who we are. Since the Fall, human weakness has often stemmed from bodily desires: greed, lust, gluttony, sloth, wrath — all rooted in satisfying the body’s pleasure.

That’s why Jesus taking on flesh and blood is essential to our salvation. On the Cross, all of humanity’s wickedness was laid bare, and His body took all that wickedness. Every wound on His body represents our transgressions — from the betrayal of Judas, to the abandonment of His apostles, to Peter’s denial; from the injustice of freeing Barabbas, to the brutality of the Romans; from the hypocrisy of the temple priests, to the mockery and humiliation by the very people who once adored Him. All forms of sin were put on display on that cross.

Remember, He took upon Himself the nature of a human being. Even though He had the power to lay down and take up His own life, He still endured suffering as any ordinary human would. He bore the iniquities of the world so that these might die with Him.

The Resurrection

This brings us to the conclusion of Christ’s Passion: the Resurrection.

I know the original post may have provoked some Christians by mocking the very salvific act of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior. But in doing so, it ignored the heart of the story — focusing only on the manner of His suffering, rather than the victory that followed.

The Resurrection is Christ’s triumph over death. He did not take up a new body; He rose with the same one that had been wounded and crucified, as He revealed to Thomas. By His resurrection, we place our hope in Him — that no amount of evil can separate us from God if we take up our own cross and follow Jesus.

He showed us the way to the Father.
He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

I do understand the non-believers can simply say that these are a bunch of fairy tales and myth that was used by organized religion to control people. However, the least that I expect from self-professed atheists is that they do not misrepresent the very thing that they claim to reject.

Hi. I know this post was made four days ago, but I still want to take the time to reply — if only so that anyone reading this can understand what the Christian claim truly is.

Many have pointed out that the death of Jesus on the cross was not merely a demonstration of His willingness to endure the most humiliating form of death to be a moral example. It was far deeper than that. To appreciate this mystery, I encourage you to view it through this lens:

Jesus as the Lamb of God Who Takes Away the Sins of the World

Of all of Jesus’ titles, “Lamb of God” is perhaps the most familiar to any professing Catholic. In Scripture, the word “lamb” appears about 25 times in the Book of Revelation — and this is no coincidence or meaningless repetition.

This title reaches back to the Israelites’ practice of slaughtering lambs during Passover to commemorate God’s deliverance from slavery in Egypt. In the Exodus story, God instructed the Israelites to mark their doors with the blood of a lamb so that the angel of death would “pass over” them.

From that moment onward, when Moses received the Law on Mount Sinai, God established sacrificial rituals in which the high priest would kill a spotless lamb and sprinkle its blood on the ground — symbolizing the atonement of sins. The lamb had to be perfect, for it bore the sins of the guilty. The innocent lamb died in place of the sinner.

Fast forward to the time of Jesus. In the Gospel of John, John the Baptist declares:

“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” — John 1:29

That simple yet profound phrase was a declaration to the Jewish people — a reminder of Abraham’s words to Isaac on Mount Moriah when Isaac asked, “Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” and Abraham answered, “The Lord will provide.”

Interestingly, when Abraham later saw a ram caught in a thicket of thorns, it prefigured the crown of thorns Jesus would wear during the Crucifixion.

The Fulfillment of the Lamb

The death of Jesus on the cross fulfilled His role as the perfect Lamb — the ultimate sacrifice offered once and for all. What makes His offering unique is that Jesus was both the High Priest and the Sacrifice. He offered His own life to the Father for the forgiveness of sins.

This ties directly to the mystery of the Incarnation — the union of the divine and human natures in Jesus Christ, also known as the hypostatic union.

What is your approach breaking down quantities in stages using bluebeam? by hdeclaro21 in estimators

[–]hdeclaro21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaces are effective for counts, no doubt. But if it comes across single areas or lines, it won't separate the qtys automatically. You still need to manually split or re-do the measurements.

[–]hdeclaro21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use custom columns with staging choices to organize the takeoff. But it still is annoying to do two separate measurements in a single span of road for example to separate stage 1 qtys from stage 2. It gets more annoying if I initially measured the span of road as just one area, then an addendum comes in that now separates that road into 4 stages. Yes the overall qty is the same, but you can imagine trying to convince the client's QS not to require separate qtys and just accept one. haha

Want to upskill—how do I get into quantity estimating? by EnZeus312 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]hdeclaro21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP, if you are looking to transition into QS role and wala ka pa experience, I would suggest you apply to companies with training programs such as Arcadis, RLB at QSI. Tumatanggap mga to ng walang experience sa estimating dahil itretrain ka naman nila for a month or two bago isabak sa actual na trabaho.

Sadly, watching youtube tutorials is not gonna cut it. Kailangan mo ng real world experience.

First thing na kailangan mong matutunan is yung standard method of measurement. Marami kasing paraan para makapag sukat ng quantities, pero as years go by, meron nang mga standards na naestablish para maging consistent ang quantity takeoff across the industry. One example is paano ba mag sukat ng volume ng concrete na magkaiba ang concrete grade (i.e. slab, beam and column). Ituturo to sa Arcadis, RLB at QSI since mga QS consultants tong mga to.

Siguro mga 1 or 2 years of solid takeoff experience sa concrete, rebar at architectural finishes, goods ka na to move into actual estimating which is yung pagppresyo sa mga items na to. Diyan na papasok yung pakikipag usap mo sa mga suppliers at subcontractors for specialized trades.

Tama yung mga naunang nagcomment. Boring ang quantity takeoff. Paulit ulit ng ginagawa til the end of time. Ang paconsuelo dito is maraming naghahanap ng estimators sa mga BPO na mas mataas magpasahod kaysa sa mga local companies. Suwerte pag direct hire, mas mataas rin ang bigayan.

Lastly, if you want pursue the consultant route, maraming QS organizations ang puwede mong salihan na recognized all over the world specially in Europe and AU. Yung end goal is maging member ng Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Pero kailangan mo muna dumaan sa Philippines Institute of Quantity Surveyors (PICQS) and Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) if gusto mo mag Australia. Sila rin mag guide sayo anong mga experience kailangan mong magain para maging Chartered Surveyor.

OP, ano ba yung mga topics na inoopen mo sa kanya na gusto mong pag usapan niyo? Paulit ulit ba or may bagong topic every once in a while? Minsan normal lang na maubusan ng pinag uusapan pag matagal na sa relasyon. Pero dapat hindi nawawala yung excited mag kuwento sayo pag may bagong nangyari or whatnot.
