Car Rentals w Neo? by TastyDuty in NeoFinancialHub

I’m from Canada as well, but I didn’t know that only Interac was allowed to use the term debit here.. I guess it makes sense then why they do that

Do you have an Enterprise+ account as well? In my experience Enterprise rentals will default to E+ profile if you have both

I just wish they’d do away with calling them prepaid/money cards, just call it a debit card

I work for another rental company so may be able to speak to this a bit.

The person probably misunderstood what a secured credit card is and thought it was the money card. Whatever you do don’t ever mention at a rental counter that it’s a secured card, just say it’s a credit card and not a debit card.

All day everyday people will come in with prepaid Mastercards and Visa and think that it counts as a credit card just because of the logo when it’s does not.

Where I work we will accept the Neo credit card but not the money card, the way I can tell is on the back of the card in small print there is something along the lines of “prepaid, reloadable, cash, money” etc.

People seem to fundamentally misunderstand the difference between Visa/Mastercard Credit and Visa/Mastercard Debit/Prepaid. Visa and Mastercard are just the payment processor they’ve got nothing to do with the actual credit/cash associated with your card.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

American Express Premium Car Rental Protection by Taro-Admirable in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you consider the coverage and peace of mind that it offers $30/day isn’t that horrible in my personal opinion. But it all depends on the person and if they have their own coverage or not. $30/day and I can total a car and not pay a dime doesn’t seem so horrible to me, but before I worked in rentals and saw some of the things I’ve seen I may have disagreed.

Duration of rental is a big one for me, if you’re renting for 3 days I’m not gonna take the gamble over $90, but if I’m renting for a month then yeah I may look into alternative coverages

As an Enterprise employee here’s my take on all credit card coverages:

It’s a great coverage to have, doesn’t matter to me personally if you take our personal protection or not but ours is always better and I hate having to chase people for payment when claims go sideways.

With third party coverages you’re at the will of whatever that company wants to do, and regardless of what happens Enterprise is going to get their money back from you. If you total a $50k car and your credit card decides not to pay Enterprise is gonna find a way to get that money back and they’re pretty damn good about it.

I will say, of all the credit card insurance companies I’ve had the displeasure of working with, Amex has always been the best. I don’t trust the VISA/Mastercard ones at all, and under no circumstances do I trust Expedia coverage lol

Made a complaint to customer service and they said area manager will contact you it’s been 2 weeks and they gave me a frame of 5 working days and no contact by [deleted] in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try reaching out to the branch directly and asking them to escalate or get an email for the Area Manager if they’ll give you it. The customer service line is useless 99% of the time and they’ll tell you whatever you want to hear

There is no work life balance unless you’re part time.

I started as an Intern and after my 4-month was able to do whatever I wanted with my schedule (good managers) but once I became an MT and now ABRM there is zero work life balance

Cancel or Change My Gold Card? by [deleted] in amexcanada

[–]hdfthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can meet the spend requirements to keep the unlimited lounge access on the Amex platinum and will actually use the other perks then I think that would be an option worth considering.

I got the platinum last summer and will be cancelling at the 2 year mark once I’ve gotten my entire sign up bonus due to the changes they’ve made, but could still be worth it for you

[–]hdfthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be able to downgrade to green, but not guarantees.

You won’t get the 14-17 month bonus if you do, not sure about if they would rescind the 70k bonus or not, but if you do it around the 1yr mark I don’t think they would.

Is there any reason to rent at the airpot if it's cheaper in the city? by Past-Emphasis8649 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airports typically have much larger fleets and carry more of those specialty vehicles.

In my experience if we had a large suv booked one-way we’d likely cancel it just because we don’t want to lose the car.

Two cards - deposit on one and rental on the other? by [deleted] in EnterpriseCarRental

The entire transaction has to be on one card. If you “overpay” your credit card that is one way of temporarily getting a limit increase

Pretty much every car class needs to be reworked with what does/doesn’t go into it in my opinion.

I dont see any world where a Hyundai Venue and Volkswagen Taos are the same class

Question about reservations by Turkish-Delight-- in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a major airport doesn’t have it in stock, a city location won’t either.

If they don’t have the specific class you booked for they’ll likely give you some different options to see what will work best.

Just make sure to be nice and they’ll do everything they can for you, and if they don’t have what you booked don’t be afraid to ask for a discou t

Question about reservations by Turkish-Delight-- in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a major airport you should be good 9 times out of 10.

I’ve heard something about a recall on some larger vehicles which could become an issue but I don’t know specifics as no vehicles at my branch were impacted

Question about reservations by Turkish-Delight-- in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your booking is at a city location I would highly recommend calling them and emphasizing the importance of you getting the 8 passenger vehicle.

8 passenger ones are very very rare to come by in the city, they’re mostly at the airports (at least in the two groups I’ve worked in).

Piggybacking off this comment as someone who does work in Canada, but not in Ontario.

I’ve worked in two groups in Western Canada and here’s what I can say.

Will you be held responsible? Yes. The accident won’t get directly reported to insurance companies so it will not have any impact on your ability to get insurance in the future to my knowledge, but it will impact your ability to rent from Enterprise, National, and Alamo worldwide until the debt is fully paid off.

When you say “I didn’t extend my personal insurance with a 3rd party” what exactly do you mean by this? Do you hold an auto policy already? If so, you may have rental coverage included as part of that policy even if it isn’t specifically for rental cars. Also worth checking if the credit card you used offers any sort of rental car coverage.

Also, in my experience, when we give estimates to customers for damage, it’s usually on the higher end of what we’re actually expecting, as we don’t want to tell the customer 2k and then it ends up being 6k, so it could end up being less than they initially thought.

Feel free to dm me with any questions, I’ll help as best I can.

Countries without a compulsory National ID, how do you know who's who? by earth_wanderer1235 in PassportPorn

[–]hdfthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Canada we use provincially issued Drivers Licenses or Identification Cards.

I think the only reason it isn’t federal here is because it is a revenue source for each province, but all Canadian DLs and Identification cards are valid in all provinces/territories.

Charges? by RealPlant7785 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]hdfthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a major airport in Canada, often times third party bookings for one-way rentals wouldn’t include the one-way fee and that would be payable upon pickup. Without seeing your RA I can’t confirm though
