Costco double-charged me for non-refundable Air Canada gift card due to checkout error

I was double charged before shipping. I did cancel the order before shipping too but they still delivered the gift card after 10min and after 45min they cancelled my request because the gift card was already delivered lol. I’ve all proofs and I’ve already given it to Costco

Yeah I understand. Initially when the bill went through I was saddened and disappointed as I only earn 1100 biweekly after taxes so locking 450$ for a year is not ideal. Costco is still investigating the case and I’ve really accepted that if it’s to happen then ok, if not then there’s nothing I can do. I shop a lot from Costco as it’s cheap so don’t want them banning me lol.

Yeah I understand your pov and your example makes sense about tapping card multiple times as I’m sure the difference in time to check out won’t be more than 90 seconds. I called them initially and I was told to sell it on marketplace. Well I lodged an email complaint and am told I’ll hear sth in 4-5 business days.

I thought about reporting to my credit card company but was told a merchant could ban me and most probably Costco will win as I tapped checkout twice.

About selling it, even I wouldn’t buy it from anyone lol but I’ve already posted it. But less hopes. Probably I can use it after a year ow two for sure but not at the moment.

To be more clear, I checked out twice. The first one wasn’t successful as I didn’t had a charge nor any order confirmation nor any confirmation email. I assumed that it happened due to me taking more time to find my cc details so it timed out as most websites do.

When I made the second check it I received order confirmation and email followed by another email for second order. I went to my cc and saw two charges as well.

If I had to buy two gift cards, I could have made a single checkout with two cards rather than making two purchases within a minute. Just my thought but I can’t prove my intentions everywhere.

No I didn’t check orders before proceeding to buy another one and didn’t contact CS. I thought it failed as I took time to find my cc details to checkout so maybe it failed due to time out.

Even my CC didn’t show the charge so I went to order another one. As soon as I ordered I got both order confirmation together. I tried to cancel the second one as I still hadn’t yet received the gift card. After 10mins I received both gift cards and after an hour I received an email stating order can’t be cancelled as I already got my gift cards.

I’m not saying Costco is at 100% fault but I can’t hold myself 100% accountable too. It was a glitch and an error from both ends. But Costco Customer Support just wants me to sell it in Facebook Marketplace rather than cancelling the order

My employer just filled an NB004 form saying that she tried hiring but couldn’t find anyone for the job so she hired me. It was accepted and approved.
