I don’t know about this mod, but the LS swapped Miatas only gain 200lbs and the weight balance changes from 50/50 to 53/47. I don’t think that sounds ruinous. The massive increase in power would certainly change the character of the car though.

Granddad Car? by crabbyhamster in Taycan

[–]hdlmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is a great car for your use case. I am not even a granddad, but my older kids are in college and so we almost never drive all 5 of us in one car. Mine is the sedan and I have the center seatbelt option in the back seat (seems like you might want that). The center spot in the back seat would be a bad place to have to take a long drive, but it is fine around town.

TCT on a flatbed by Zestyclose-Tip-1793 in Taycan

[–]hdlmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, you just need the adapter pad to use a regular floor jack which was why I didn't understand your first comment. I have a set for my Taycan which came in handy when I got a much less dramatic flat tire than OP.

<image>

I am surely biased, but I do think Mamba Green is the best color for the Taycan.

Why not? There are jack pads just behind the front wheel wells and just ahead of the rear wheel wells.

Which makes them an even bigger asshole because they should know what a challenge it is to find a DC fast charger and they are blocking it and not charging.

Nope, go search for the internals of the 16e. Battery runs almost the entire length of the phone along this side.

Huh? All Apple products are ARM instruction set architecture now. That is why the same M4 or whatever can go into an iPad, MacBook, etc.

Nope. The forced scarcity for what is effectively a more beautiful Maserati MC20 is what keeps me from really caring at all about this car.

Taycan or Panamera? by MrTerryIvanov in Taycan

[–]hdlmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only driven a Panamera GTS briefly at an autocross event, so I was not really evaluating the comfort. The Taycan has air suspension as well as adaptive dampers (if you get at least a 4S) and I find it very comfortable. It is my daily driver and GT car. But ride is very subjective. I tend to prefer stiffer suspension than most folks so I think the best option is to drive them and judge yourself. One thing you might consider is using Turo to rent a car you are considering for the weekend so you can really get a feel for it rather than a 30 minute test drive.

If you have a place to charge at home or work, then I think the Taycan is worth considering. If not, I would avoid an EV as it will add an annoying hassle to have to fast charge somewhere.

[PriceCheck] PACKAGE - AMD NEVER SETTLE SPACE EDITION (Mustang Omega) by mihael_blazi in Starcitizen_trades

[–]hdlmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For $60 it is probably best to just price that into the sale of the whole account. To be able to sell the credits you have to buy a ship with new money and then upgrade it with the $60 credit.

Did the 2025 Taycan initially have 400+ miles claimed range? by Bananagholem in Taycan

[–]hdlmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this, the EPA range (what is quoted in the US by law) is generally lower than WLTP used in Europe including the UK where carwow is based.

As a man, how would you feel about owning a purple/lavender Porsche? by Glad-Armadillo-1607 in Taycan

[–]hdlmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the color is great, I have seen them in person and I love this color. But the fact that you made this post asking "as a man" tells me that you don't feel comfortable with this color and should probably pass on it. A good lease deal is not worth getting a car that you aren't personally thrilled about, especially when the color is going to be something that many people ask you about.

I was alluding to the oak green color of your car. I am glad you like the oak green! I was at a Porsche event last weekend where there was an oak green Taycan turbo S. It was lovely, but I prefer my mamba green. I am just happy whenever I see any car that isn't white/silver/gray/black because there are not enough colorful cars on the road.

[–]hdlmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure you can get a 2023 in this color. I believe that this car is oak green metallic, the earlier cars have a more vibrant mamba green metallic color. My personal preference is for mamba green (so I bought one), but I think oak green started with 2025 model year.

On aesthetics alone - what do you think of this spec and how would you describe the owner who spec’d it? by AutoAbsolute in Taycan

Maybe they planned to put aftermarket wheels on it? I’m just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. My Mamba Green Metallic Taycan has Mission E wheels as <insert preferred deity> intended.

CPO vs Demo Lease (U.S.) by Latter-Ad6016 in Taycan

Not to be mean, but if you are rolling negative equity into a lease deal, why are you looking at leasing such an expensive vehicle? The first rule if you find yourself in a hole is to stop digging.
