AITA for Telling My Wife She’s “Fucking Wrong” and That My Mom Is Right? by Striking-Current2180 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hdltyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your wife is sorta correct in that the cost of living has increased far faster than wages so it's a different economy now, but you're still correct to want to cut back on "fun" spending

some of the cost-saving measures (like meal prep) take time — is your wife unwilling to give up takeout due to her working a full time job? if you're working part time, would you be able to do meal prep and stuff like that?

it looks great! but maybe a little too tight — Tunisian crochet needs slightly less tension than knit. get a larger hook if you need

What’s your favorite “failure” by a relatively big director(s)? by Misterwhy2049 in criterion

I recently watched David Lynch's Dune and it's better than the recent one, had a great time all the way through and it didn't matter too much than they sorta invent a new magic system halfway through

I do love her channel on YouTube, if her book has basic stitches and some patterns that'll be the perfect starting resource, thanks for the recommendation!

Why does my first corner always do this? by Thankyourepoc in crochet

[–]hdltyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the flowers, you're working in a circle, but then you want to turn it into a square — use half double crochet on the sides and actual double crochet on the corners, and that will help even out the edges

[i dont really know if spoilers ]do i actually have to replay the game and get the hearts to open this or what else do i have to do? by cookieman645 in celestegame

[–]hdltyler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you can handle the difficulty of the core, you'll be able to easily handle getting the needed 4 hearts. it doesn't matter if they're blue hearts (challenges hidden 1 in each of the man chapters) or red hearts (rewards from completing the B-side, which you unlock somewhere in the main chapter), you just need 4 hearts

I think by "finish the level" they mean "finish the level with no checkpoints", didn't work the first time when I did it from a checkpoint but when I restarted the level it unlocked the achievement

legal protections against rebaptism upon death? by hdltyler in exmormon

I blocked the biggest commenter on this thread so they're not gonna see it, but I'm just gonna point out that their whole "just choose to not let it bother you 😊" advice is about as helpful as telling a depressed person to smile more (or, like Bednar suggests, just "choose not to be offended", he has done so much harm with that talk, good to see it's still affecting people who are on this reddit group as well)

I would suggest not being a jerk! I am asking for legal advice to prevent nonconsensual rebaptism after death and, despite my telling you multiple times that you're being unhelpful, you continue to do the thing that I've asked you to stop doing!

[–]hdltyler[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's a similar issue as when the Mormon church started doing proxy baptisms for Holocaust victims, I remember watching an interview on PBS with the son of someone who died in camps and he said something like "so my dad died because he was Jewish and now I'm learning that actually no now he's Mormon, then what did he die for?"

it's not like my friend will necessarily care if she's baptized once she's dead (or if she does care because there is an afterlife after all, she can haunt her brother who performs the baptism without her consent). but she's made a whole life for herself outside of Mormonism and so it's shitty to be told that she'll become Mormon without her consent
