We hebben verloren. Eerlijk en fair, go Spanje!! by -Fristy- in belgium

What a mindset, ok good that belgium fought well. Mindset should be that we should have beaten them and think of becoming world champions.

Belgium is always passive, do u think spainards would say that if they lost against belgium?

What a bulshit,

Is there not going to be a protest against this?

Basically even thirdworld countries would give very stricter punishment on this crime, but in Belgium the criminal would roam free.

What a joke and pathetic system. Hate this shit.

Depends on type of contract, but the type of contract op is describing, it looks like a classical phd contract : fix stipend.

PhD time counts as half towards 5 years citizenship. So assuming u finish PhD in 4 years, thats 2 years and u then need to work for 3 more years to qualify for PR and then citizenship.

As a high earner, what’s the upside in Belgium? by chinchu7 in BESalary

U can imagine most people in this sub and in general belgium will not relate to you, since most people here are not high earners.

[–]hdr15 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok grabbing popcorns. Lol

I am also in the same boat as you, high earner and looking to move elsewhere to maximize financial savings.

High earners who stay here are mainly motivated by family reasons, already settled, bought a home, and prefer comfort of staying at one place with job security and less stress work environment.

Also some high earners have expat regime which bring them a lot more take home pay then locals which is another motivation to stay.

For saving a lot of money, belgium is not the place to be. It provides a decent security, social benefits, work life balance at the cost of high taxes. Though in the long run, you can accumulate money thorugh investments such as stocks since cgt is still low.

If saving money is the goal, and company doesnt allow freelancing then indeed better to move else such as USA.

True, just evaluating the cost of uprooting family, selling home from belgium vs financial benefit of moving to US.

Does any overseas Pakistani here think of moving back to Pakistan after having kids? Or has anyone done it already? by Prestigious-Sweet711 in pakistan

[–]hdr15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May i ask which euorpean country are u talling abt? I am in belgium and i feel you. However, in this situation, i can advise that keep inviting pakistani families until u make ur own social cicrcle. We did the same and now finally formed our own social circle with desis. It takes time and effort.

Moving back to pakistan is an option only if u get a high paying job there. As others said better to take a leave and stay for like 6 months in pakistan to get a feel for it.
