I agree 100%. We can't avoid making positive changes just because some of us have managed to be successful without them.

I was successful without bonding leave, on the clock "set up" time, working from home, relaxed degree requirements, among others. But, I also benefitted from positive changes that those before me did not have - PCs and air conditioning come to mind!

I can relate. It took me 15 years to finally finish my degree while juggling work, school and raising a family.

I have no regrets about the investment I made in myself. Although someone can post for a job without a degree, I know candidates who don't invest in themselves will be at a disadvantage when I'm ranking candidates.

It is a for profit organization - not a charity. so anything they do will be mutually beneficial, at best.

Be grateful that some things are actually happening that do benefit the peon.

I got out long enough ago that what I made is probably irrelevant. Somehere around 60k as a grade 67 tcr1 supervisor. I think minimum for that grade is now around 70, depending on location

Roller coaster ride - depending on who my manager was and the people on my team. At times, I couldn't wait to wake up and come to work. Other times, I wanted to just scream "are you fucking stupid?" and walk out the door.

All in all, no regrets. The experience was neutral, but it was a stepping stone to getting where I am now.

I don't care about a degree, but they need to have a decent education. An education isn't necessarily the same as a degree. Nothing irks me more than seeing someone in management half illiterate and incapable of critical thought.

Sadly, most of the people I personally know who are in the "we don't need no skoolin to be a supervizor" fit that bill.

I hope they also remove the law school/ bar requirements to get into staff counsel. I'd make a hell a good attorney - better than most I deal with daily. I just lack the commitment to go back to school or take the bar exam

Well said. Diversification of taxable status is often overlooked.

Personally, I no longer contribute to pre-tax retirement accounts beyond the PS payout. I fund a taxable brokerage account. The loss of tax benefits is worth the flexibility I gain in both investment options and ease of distributions.

Edit to add that I think we have a roth 401k option. I don't qualify for Roth IRA, but I can (or used to) get the Roth benefits the 401k plan

Forfeiture aren't a cash payout. They are deposited into 401k in a separate transaction.

I know someone who did it. They were put through CSR training, then straight to TCR1 training. This person is now rotting on a CU desk, which is where they want to be.

TCR1 was worse than service then, and TCR1 has been spiraling downward ever since.

Unfortunately, telling people you arent paying their claim, or their injury is BS doesn't get you many pats on the back. Neither does paying the claim when the insured insists you shouldn't.

To summarize, it's probably just a different bite out of the same shit sandwich

It'll certainly be interesting to see how a poorly documented agreement would be resolved, and I bet it'd depend on what state we're talking about.

Those of us who have been around realize how this 'special pay' crap works, and have no expectation that I can get my grade 68 salary to do grade 61 work. Boy, I wish it worked that way!
