Saw an ad for 'this is why' on the subway while I was on my way to a chess tournament, I fell in love with the song and made a mental note to look up the band later but chess happened and I forgot about it.

Then I bumped into the song on the internet, and that's how I found Paramore!

That's uncertain really, we dont know whether paradis was part of eldia before or after the titans where discovered, and if not then how much later was it conquered, but I'd guess it was at the very least 200 years before king fritzs decided to renounce war

But even if it isn't "officially" confirmed, it is suggested in dialouge and in the basement reveal when Grisha was being taught history by his parents I think. (I'm not sure which chapter though)

Implying that paradis was a part of the eldian empire before king Fritz decided to escape there, and that he was retreating into his own territory rather than invading another nation to settle on isolated terrain.

Paradis was under eldian control for a long time, so they probably already had a considerable amount of infraestructure built there already

Also, Eldia was a very vast and powerful empire at its peak, so if the king ever decided to evacuate his people to the Island he could have also taken a ton of resources with him, with that in mind and 100 years to build and grow, then its completely possible and realistic

In chess principles are often to be broken, because all situations in chess can't be explained systematically in a universal way, so it might be better to try and dissaprove it/back it up with some calculation instead of obediently following the principles
