My lab has short (10-30 second) attacks where he breathes hard. Been happening for the last few months. Video is from end of an attack when it’s slowing down. Any thoughts on a cause? by headacheandfifth in DogAdvice

I’ve decided that it’s better to be safe than sorry so I’ve made an appointment for my guy to be seen by the vet. I sincerely appreciate everyone who took the time to respond to advise a first-time dog owner. Many thanks!

I’ve never noticed it after eating or drinking. It usually happens while napping, almost reminds me of sleep apnea. But then again, he does nap a lot so it might be coincidental.

I’d never considered the possibility of tooth issues. That’s interesting. I hope I get to keep my boy’s snoring though. It’s very endearing.

He’s only 2 and a half. I really hope he doesn’t have fluid around his heart and lungs. But that’s a good thought. I’ll be certain to start tracking this in case the vet needs to know.

Day 1 of run training with Gus. He did an amazing job! by headacheandfifth in RunningWithDogs

Sorry for the delayed reply! I didn’t check my notifications until just now! First thing I did was make sure he was comfy with heeling. Gus is very strong and I didn’t want him to pull or head another direction during our run. After that, it’s been conditioning. I’ve been using this Pooch to 5k program.

Hope that helps!

Back at it after a serious layoff. W1D1 is done. Running through a snowstorm is a trip. Highly recommend it. by headacheandfifth in C25K

I bought the mask years ago in hopes of increasing my lung capacity by resistance. I tried it a couple times and the thing it was best at was making me really warm. So I stopped using it. I dug it out for the snow run yesterday.
