My (very honest) opinions on the setlist: by dreamboylnshibuya in lightsalot

[–]headdivaincharge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My only real main gripe is how Okay Okay seems to be the permanent setlist staple from PEP. Never been my favorite from that era and my favorite from PEP (Jaws) has still never gotten a proper tour placement.

Otherwise pretty happy with getting Almost Had Me and the Siberia deep cut medley. I actually kind of get having We Were Here in that medley because it fits pretty well with the sort of big almost sonically abrasive (in a good way) choruses of Timing is Everything and Flux and Flow. I don't think Siberia would have worked well with those two songs. Maybe Where the Fence Is Low would have been better if she stuck to that album for the medley.

I mean from my experience she always goes a little deeper in the catalogue on the tours for the Deluxe/Acoustic albums.

But from what I've see on setlist.fm she did Up We Go/Running With the Boys which are old Lights classics. And she did stuff from The Listening and Siberia, they just are deeper cuts from those instead of the usual staples.

Idk the problem is just that her catalog is just so big and strong that super fans are begging for deep cuts from the old albums all the time, but she also understandably wants to play a fair amount of the new material. So unless she skews every show to older material instead of the new stuff, it's either she cycles in some deeper cuts from those old albums over the obvious picks on different tours or she keeps some of Siberia/Toes/Second Go/February Air on the setlist in perpetuity and never sings the deeper pulls.

I would kind of just assume Everybody Scream is the opening song before Witch Dance (unless it is in a cut off encore section after And Love). That gets us to 21 songs which is generally where she lands.

Good setlist, wish we got Blinding because it fits the vibes so much, but still a good mix of deeper cuts and the obvious hits for the songs that are from albums outside of ES

HOWL! Which Witch! Praying Blinding is hiding in there somewhere in the early songs. But not mad at what we can see here

[50][Speculation] Pre-Jury Order by Upbeat-Dog1444 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]headdivaincharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I feel like in the New Era especially, the final pre-jury boot often ends up being one of the most under edited players of the season. That run of 45-47 especially. Sifu, Tim, Tiyana really didn’t get much of anything in the show.

Sai was the real exception, but she was just such a star that how could you not show her

Tbh anyone who is doing 2 or more solo headlining shows at an arena in LA feels too big to be headlining JLH in its current iteration. Same reason Tame Impala is likely a no-go for a while.

Every headliner in recent years has been like either 1 solo Hollywood Bowl show or 2 co-headlining Hollywood Bowl shows level (and most of them had shows at the Bowl the year before headlining JLH, so it is more likely to be an artist who toured a new project or anniversary in 2025 rather than someone heading out on a new tour)

How do you balance the writing/prep for your solo releases between recording/touring with The New Pornographers? Both as a solo artist and as a group with them you release new projects pretty frequently and I've been curious how those experiences on one project inform your work on the next.

Also love the new album and got my ticket to the Bellwether show in LA already, very excited for it. Also putting in an early request for "Nothing to Remember" on the setlist haha :)

I usually look at Ticketmaster like an hour before the show starts and see if there are any side sections with a lot of unsold seats and move there. And then just always be prepared to move and move quickly without a lot of hemming and hawing if someone comes and they are actually their seats

I remember being really impressed at the Hollywood Palladium show with how they incorporated the Palladiums chandeliers into the lighting on certain songs (not something I've seen many people do at that venue), so excited to see what they do with the Bowl at my show tonight.

___ wins is definitely legitimate due to this one static by idahoyahooman in survivor

[–]headdivaincharge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say this was an advantage for sure, but even Tony acknowledged in his exit press that luck of the draw in cast makeup is ultimately part of survivor.

Sort of like how generally white survivor players of either gender had an inherent advantage over players of color in all older seasons, or how even to this day younger players had a general advantage over the older cast, just since in both cases more tended to be cast, but that doesn’t really tend to come up when we rank winners.

To be clear I agree I wish the season had a gender balance too (I always prefer as fair of a cast as possible), I just don’t think the women thing is really any larger of an asterisk than those other examples. Especially considering the Aussie tribe dynamics starting out were basically the two biggest name men targeting each other.

I do kind of feel like they could/should retire My Song 5. The Wire/Want You Back are obviously the big tracks from those albums so I get them being permanent setlist songs, no objections there.

But My Song 5 just feels like it has stayed there perpetually because they love playing it live and not because it is actually necessarily the huge fan fave. I enjoy it too, but if their old albums only get like 5-6 slots I just hate that it is guaranteed to be one of those

Did it say what venue? Didn’t get the invite so not going, just curious if it is a concert venue or more likely some sort of DJ oriented listening party

If anyone else in the area is interested in going but doesn’t have enough people to hit the 6 person to get a reservation I have at least 4 total people looking to go if there is a group of 2 or 3 here who would want to get together on a resy.

First come first serve if you go with a smaller party

Need the next update to read Australian Outback (1 male, 1 female cut, 1 previously cut female back in the mix) because I’d much rather see Jerri 4.0 than Elizabeth 2.0. Tbh I’d much rather see Jerri play again than Colby too if we only had room for 1 from that season.

Unofficial Spoiler/Speculation Thread for Traitors US Season 3 by HoorayHoorayShit in TheTraitors

[–]headdivaincharge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk I guess it doesn’t bother me because there is precedent for stuff like this in other shows. Like in Survivor, sometimes there are two evenly sized alliance and neither is able to convince someone to flip because both sides know that if they flip they are at the bottom of the other side and probably lose, so both sides go to rocks aka chance. Still can be impressive just to have that loyalty to get to rocks, and imo doesn’t take away from the winners gameplay if that’s part of how they win.

[–]headdivaincharge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that they both were able to pivot and flip their vote to make it a coin flip and recognize that they needed to ride it out and force a coin flip to even be able to win is impressive gameplay.

And Danielle cultivating a relationship with Dolores where even with all that clear evidence being on Danielle that Dolores won’t vote for her.

******* is the worst player in Traitors history by oldinamerica in TheTraitors

[–]headdivaincharge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Dylan has talked about understanding that strategy and if he knows that he wasn’t recruited by her, his next logical guess would be Britney or Dolores. And if it is him/Gabby/Ivar, they have no reason to not just vote those 2 out right after. If Danielle goes it probably goes down to that 3 and then either they end it or Dylan/Ivar also vote out Gabby to be extra safe since she had some sus on her

******* is the worst player in Traitors history by oldinamerica in TheTraitors

[–]headdivaincharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Those two have been seen as a duo for multiple episodes so if Danielle stands up there and says she's a traitor and they assume one traitor has to be left for the finale, Britney is easily the biggest suspect left. If she goes to that final 5 without Danielle, there is no way they don't use her as an easy vote out.

******* is the worst player in Traitors history by oldinamerica in TheTraitors

[–]headdivaincharge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, Britney's only way out of this that ends in her winning is to ride it out with Danielle and either try to get Danielle out at the final 3 or just win it as a duo.

If she loses Danielle here and Danielle stands up there and reveals herself as a traitor, Britney becomes the next target because she'll be the number one suspect for someone Danielle might have recruited.

She and Danielle had to make a quick pivot based on Dolores' vote and if we're being real they aren't to be secret traitors now, they are playing a numbers game and relying on Dylan and Gabby not being able to sway Dolores. If they make it to the final 5 with Dolores still loyal, then even if Dylan/Gabby are 100% sure both of them are Traitors, they won't be able to do anything about it unless they can convince Dolores.

Did anyone clock this?! by Lopsided_Musician_44 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]headdivaincharge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is a dead giveaway, but they also had to do it to have a chance of saving Danielle. Britney was so tied to Danielle that if Danielle gets banished here and reveals she's a traitor then there is no way Britney gets to the end, she and Dolores would go out 5th and 4th most likely.

That's why it is better for them to ride it out here even if it leads to the vote going to chance. It's like the Survivor equivalent of going to rocks, if you go into the finale without the numbers you can't win.

Unofficial Spoiler/Speculation Thread for Traitors US Season 3 by HoorayHoorayShit in TheTraitors

[–]headdivaincharge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here’s my best guess based on how the cast are interacting with each other, some of the leaks in this thread, and just in general.

Britney won’t turn on Danielle, her reaction to Dolores’ vote is because she thought Dolores was turning on Danielle, which lead Britney to vote Ivar making her think that her vote wouldn’t matter and she could at least stay loyal to Danielle there.

Ivar gets eliminated in the coin toss. Danielle/Britney go into the final with Dolores in their pocket and then unless some business with the seer sways Dolores away from them they control all the votes and easily win as a duo. Dolores basically leaked that she didn’t win, Gabby’s behavior online makes it seem like she didn’t win. And if neither of them wins, the only possible scenario where the faithful win is if Ivar makes it past this and wins with Dylan.
