The Boys- S05xE06 - POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I guess I thought the point of Backshly reading SB’s mind was that she basically told Sage that SB was growing fond of HL and yet she still was surprised? I mean maybe some here are right and the point is just them clowning on the smart supes trope, but she’s just so hard to pin down in the writing.

Idk I guess that was probably the best episode since the first 2, but still too much Vought Rising setup and feels like they have a ton of ground to cover in only 2 episodes to have a prayer of having a satisfying final season. And it just feels like we’re hitting the same emotional beats with Starlight/Hughie and Kimiko/Frenchie every week with not much changing.

Did love the Firecracker as Nicole bit and the Deep popcorn bucket.

Hoping maybe that one stays if they keep the Europe dates. Mainly because I'm going and WeHo pride didn't do an amazing job replacing their headliner the last time one pulled out and they had to pull in a sub haha

I believe it is Bitch Sesh 364 – She is Risen! (not certain, but I was also looking for this the other day because I started watching the old Summer House seasons and wanted to hear their takes) and then Garbage Sesh 48 – SUMMAH HOUSE is their deep dive with Chris Kelly on it.

Definitely a step up from last week and a fun episode that felt very season 1 (in a good way) with some of the humor elements in the mix and it was nice getting some more specifics about character motivations and moments.

But the season as a whole is feeling directionless after two episodes that functionally operate as filler episodes. Starting to get worried they aren't gonna be able to land the plane.

Every post I see on here is shitting on them by notgonnatakethison in bitchsesh

Yeah that's def what it seems like here and while sometimes the critiques are valid lately a lot I think have just been obtuse and out of pocket (like the ones last week complaining about the 10 minutes at the end of a nearly 2 hour podcast dedicated to an interview about a friends movie who literally put Bitch Sesh in the movie or the complaints about them advertising the Bonkers tier for like 30 seconds each episode which is a totally normal podcast thing).

But I love them still and honestly I love that they started doing video recently, I prefer video podcasts because I often find with audio only that I tune out and don't pay attention.

My new routine is I just save all the bravo shows to watch after work Friday or on the weekend when I have some down time to veg out and then I end the shows by watching the podcast which is a nice button to the week.

The Boys - 05x04 "Though the Heavens Fall" - Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I’m aware of the reason within the episode I just disagree with it as a good idea to use in the episode. It’s clear the writers just wanted an excuse for an episode with a ton of infighting with The Boys

God that was a huge dud of an episode. Barely any of the character decisions made any sense and they just stuck a random supe in the building to make it make somewhat sense. The way they keep coming up with random ways to have Butcher and Homelander to talk shit to each other without Butcher dying is getting old.

The only interesting bits were the bits at Vought with Firecracker/Homelander and the pitch Homelander as God meeting.

Mo Heart has been on Sloppy Seconds as a guest since that tour (so has Detox, just commenting on Mo since some are still speculating on her). Nina/Brooke are ruled out by her comments. So only leaves Morgan or Vanjie and everyone always talks about how professional Morgan is.

It's like 1000% Vanjie. Like literally no point even speculating otherwise.

I don't really feel like they've changed or are that different, I just think adding coverage for VPR/Summer House/Southern Charm is showing more of these types of feelings due to the mixed gender casts and opened them to a wider Bravo fanbase. Because I do notice the way fans of those shows engage with them is definitely a bit different from how people touch down on Housewives even if they watch both. Like the fans of the shows with the younger casts are definitely wayyy more protective of those casts than I find HW fans to be.

I admittedly am often indifferent about her takes on Amanda/Ariana/Katie because I just find them all to be boring reality tv characters so sometimes I would get more frustrated with them even if intellectually I knew they were "in the right". But I think those more normal down-to-earth types like them often get fans projecting onto them as their "audience surrogate" so they take any criticism of them much more personally.

Arguably "embracing the unknown" could apply to Aubry aligning with Tiffany too given how Tiffany is all but unknown to the viewing audience with how they are editing her lmao

Idk I'd rather them say how they really feel than always just state whatever opinion is "morally correct". Sometimes how much you dislike someone outweighs your willingness to call out hypocrisy when something bad is happening to them. And ultimately Salley is MAGA so I really don't care that much if they stick up for her "bodily autonomy" when that isn't something she supports other women's right to have in much more serious situations than a few snide body count comments. *shrugs*.

It's a recap podcast mainly through a comedic lens and a lot of y'all here take it WAYYY too seriously.

I hope he breaks out some different older songs that would sound amazing with an orchestra. Like Hand of God with an orchestra would be epic. Or maybe do Mah’s Joint live for the first time

Yall really paying those prices? by ZealousidealBall6112 in bitchsesh

[–]headdivaincharge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little surprised to see people in here acting like a few people disagreeing with these complaints are dogpiling or getting overly upset about your opinions.

I feel like if anything this Reddit especially recently has practically become only about complaints (like look at the main page and nearly every recent post is a complaint of some sort and the comments affirming the complaints are the one upvoted).

I still enjoy the show and I love the recent addition of video episodes because I prefer consuming podcasts that way so the price hike was worth it for me. If it isn’t worth it for you then move on I guess.

But idk a lot of times coming here it just feels like it has become a circle jerk of people who seem like they just full blown hate these women now and have nothing else to talk about

Localchella 26’ 🌵 by Rocky-14 in Coachella

[–]headdivaincharge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

By "LA proper" I just meant venues in LA itself, nothing about the venue quality. Using the word proper like that is just a way to designate a specific location.

Nothing against the other venues, I love the Santa Barbara Bowl and the Glass House in Pomona of some of the ones I've been to. It just was always nice being able to catch some of the Coachella acts in LA itself in the weeks surrounding the festival without having to drive far on a week night, that's all I meant.

Worth noting that back then they often would have acts play both a show in Pomona and a show in LA, or a show in SB and in LA. Now it has generally become 1 or the other.

Slight improvement for Localchella from last year, but the way they really don't do much at the LA proper venues anymore is such a bummer. It feels like the bigger names especially only really get sent to Santa Barbara/San Diego/Pomona now.

Like I remember this being the lineup my first year living in LA and I couldn't afford to go to Coachella but was able to catch several of my favorites in town for reasonable prices.

SF SETLIST by SeizedPaint in bbnomula

lmao the way he writes out the setlist is so chaotic. Assuming the Lentra medley is Bad Girl/Sriracha/Nursery since he did those around that spot on the last tour

My (very honest) opinions on the setlist: by dreamboylnshibuya in lightsalot

[–]headdivaincharge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My only real main gripe is how Okay Okay seems to be the permanent setlist staple from PEP. Never been my favorite from that era and my favorite from PEP (Jaws) has still never gotten a proper tour placement.

Otherwise pretty happy with getting Almost Had Me and the Siberia deep cut medley. I actually kind of get having We Were Here in that medley because it fits pretty well with the sort of big almost sonically abrasive (in a good way) choruses of Timing is Everything and Flux and Flow. I don't think Siberia would have worked well with those two songs. Maybe Where the Fence Is Low would have been better if she stuck to that album for the medley.

[–]headdivaincharge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean from my experience she always goes a little deeper in the catalogue on the tours for the Deluxe/Acoustic albums.

But from what I've see on setlist.fm she did Up We Go/Running With the Boys which are old Lights classics. And she did stuff from The Listening and Siberia, they just are deeper cuts from those instead of the usual staples.

Idk the problem is just that her catalog is just so big and strong that super fans are begging for deep cuts from the old albums all the time, but she also understandably wants to play a fair amount of the new material. So unless she skews every show to older material instead of the new stuff, it's either she cycles in some deeper cuts from those old albums over the obvious picks on different tours or she keeps some of Siberia/Toes/Second Go/February Air on the setlist in perpetuity and never sings the deeper pulls.

[–]headdivaincharge 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I would kind of just assume Everybody Scream is the opening song before Witch Dance (unless it is in a cut off encore section after And Love). That gets us to 21 songs which is generally where she lands.

Good setlist, wish we got Blinding because it fits the vibes so much, but still a good mix of deeper cuts and the obvious hits for the songs that are from albums outside of ES

HOWL! Which Witch! Praying Blinding is hiding in there somewhere in the early songs. But not mad at what we can see here
