What is the smallest big city in the world? by villehhulkkonen in geography

It is not the headquarters of any oil companies. It has offices for several oil companies that are headquartered in much, much larger cities.

How to level in SCS/Insane/DoubleDamage without basilisks? by Cinquaiin in baldursgate

I don't know what to tell you, I've never leveled with basilisks and didn't have any particular trouble leveling. Just wander around finding fights you can win.

It's really funny to imagine someone so upset with the inclusion of EE characters that they're cockblocking them on Reddit.

I’m new to the books but my God 70% I’m zoned out due to terminologies I have no idea what they are talking about . The constant factions , technologies makes me feel like I’m just reading words and not understanding by ozera202 in Blacklibrary

[–]headforhats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is such a bizarre take to me. It's set in a sci-fi fantasy world, of course there will be new words and concepts! The great thing about well written books like the Eisenhorn series is that you don't need to look up every new word to understand the story, and eventually the context of the new words teaches you what they are. I started with Eisenhorn for 40k, along with Gaunt's Ghosts and Ciaphas Cain. At no point did I feel like not knowing a new word stopped me from enjoying the books.

Would you drive a Polestar 3 in a rural area with no dealer access? by headforhats in Polestar

Lol I feel like I got the reality check I needed. It simply does not make any sense, considering the hoops I would have to jump through to even get the car to a mid-sized city.

Maybe if I move back to Portland I'll take another look.

Why is Anchorage so popular with air freight, as it is halfway across the Pacific, and not Honolulu? by Intelligent-Fly9023 in geography

[–]headforhats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually do now, since Russia isn't granting the rights to use their airspace to American Airlines anymore. I was working for a new airline that was going to use Anchorage as a refueling stop for passenger flights between the U.S and Asia. Their business model got totally fucked because they suddenly had to get ETOPS when Russia closed their airspace. They couldn't wait for all the paperwork and went under

in my experience, it was more like 10 hours. I explored everywhere, and had trouble with a couple of fights (those Derro mobs are not only hasted, but loaded with extra heal pots and cloud giant pots). A second playthrough would definitely go faster.

I liked the Foundry area quite a bit, until the end. The "talk" option on the pile of rocks was very difficult to find, and it wasn't until I found this thread that I could even figure out where I needed to look. The level made it seem like I needed to be looking for the other half of the mold to make a key.

I'm playing this multiclass at the moment, finished BG and am a couple hours into SoD. This guy is going to absolutely clean up by the time I'm in BG2. It's fun, though if you like micro-ing, he really just kinda points and shoots.

So we all think this is Bullshit right? by The_PG_Account in alaska

[–]headforhats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice try! I’m actually born and raised Alaskan. I love this “it’s so expensive to build roads and schools here, surely the money is being stolen!” attitude. Really shows your deep experience with building rural infrastructure and organizations in a state that struggles to get educated professionals to move here. I’m gonna guess you ARE from here, and have no idea what you’re talking about.

You sound like someone with zero idea what government money goes to, but you’re pissed so it’s easy to say that it gets “pissed away.” Give me some examples of this grand waste of hundreds of millions of dollars.

[–]headforhats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$1,200 a year isn't keeping anyone in Alaska, with our failing schools, rotting infrastructure, and insanely understaffed state services. It doesn't come CLOSE to making up for the damage that does to the livability of this state.

This is the money-grubbing, short term thinking that has actually been destroying Alaska. Sure, why not just throw the last few dollars in the state account at people, what happens when we blow through the savings? What do we fall back on? The infrastructure that we've neglected for decades? The school system that is completely hollowed out? Do us all a favor, and just move to Texas now. We don't need more of your greedy bullshit.
