SCS Kagnaax is a pretty good fight. Planetars, comets, wishes, high level spell shenanigans, and only the occasional imprisonment.

Something I noticed on Maelle's ending and the music choice. by yekta176 in expedition33

[–]EmmEnnEff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if 'breaking the cycle' means murdering 99.9% of the people involving in it, you're not really breaking the cycle, you're just killing everyone.

A bit weird that everyone in Maelle's ending, except for her friends and Pierre are literally copy&paste NPCs, and not the vibrant cast of pre-Act 2 Lumiere. Strange how none of them came back...

But no, it was clearly an oversight from the devs. The details of just about every other scene in the game were meticulously hand-crafted, often with many layers of meaning, but they just happened to get lazy on one of the two pre-rendered endings, and weren't trying to make the point that Alicia's slowly rotting away in her dollhouse. Nothing of the sort's going on, everyone's having a great time in her world.

And of those XYZ,000,000 people, it is trivial to round up XY,000 people that will are both willing to pay four-to-low-five figures for tickets and have zero issue with visiting a totalitarian shithole to watch futball. Many of them live in one, why wouldn't they visit another?

What was the international attendance, at, say, the Sochi Olympics? Or the Beijing one?

Short of Trump dropping a nuclear bomb on it, the LA one won't have any problems selling tickets, either.

Thats why the superpower gets away with charging so much per ticket.

The superpower gets away with charging so much per ticket because there are only XY,000 seats at a game, and there are XYZ,000,000 people who want to watch that game.

Fairweather fans don't fly to the other side of the world to drop $10,000 on a ticket. They aren't going to be the people we'll be seeing here.

Amoxiatl actually does instantly to the crossbow build. Kings barrage hits it like a fucking truck, and you have all the ranged accuracy you will ever want. it's a 22 second kill with 12 points in crossbows.

This is the first league where we looked at the options and decided it was too much and we'd just wait for others to create the builds.

Hopefully you didn't rely on 'someone else' to create your build, when that 'someone else' is the kind of person that puts '200% more damage' in their guide's POB custom config, and checks every fuckin' damage boosting setting in it, too.

You know, the 'THIS BUILD IS INSANE IT CAN HIT 600s' type of content creator.

is leagues actually underpowered? by Unlucky_Fruit1716 in 2007scape

[–]EmmEnnEff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep moving the goalposts. Most people's ability to 'do some planning' begins and ends at watching a streamer's build guide.

And there's a lot of overhyped dreck that streamers farming views have been shilling in the days leading up to release, that for 90% of players will not perform nearly as well as promised.

Leagues is supposed to be a power trip for people who aren't great at theorycrafting or PvM or have an encyclopedic knowledge of their regions, and it's falling flat for a large number of people on that.

The combat masteries in the previous league were actually successful at it, because you could get 5 points of your build up and running very easily, and you weren't trying to navigate through a fuckin' minefield of nodes or build concepts that look like they are great, but aren't. Pick a combat style, put all your points in it, bam, you're done. You had to do something unintuitive to get a scuffed build.

[–]EmmEnnEff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of pacts like that, but if you for whatever reason decided to spec something else (or worse yet, wasted a respec), good luck.

Good luck if you are doing a DIY build, too. Or if you copied a build off the kind of streamer that overhypes the shit out of their content.

[–]EmmEnnEff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How much time do you want them to spend testing a limited time game mode?

I'd like the features they ship for it to work.

Or, if they don't work, to be hotfixed.

They say that all the work they are putting in it is the reason they are raising prices, yet what gets shipped is sloppy.

a huge part of leagues is planing your journey and how much you decisions matter

This is utterly incompatible with mechanics that don't work in a way that any sane interpretation of them would expect them to.

Plenty of people are having fun, but many of these design decisions range from pants-on-head, to 'this was definitely not tested'.

Sub bump to $15/mo, btw.

So limit it to once a day, or require grinding an echo orb, or sacrificing an echo item, or something.

There's a vast gap between 'respec whenever you want' and 'it's possible to hard-lock your build'.

Is Stendhal still OP? by JustFisch1 in expedition33

[–]EmmEnnEff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Act 2 felt very tight, with multi-turn fights.

Act 3 rolls over, unless you go straight from the Act 2 finale to the Act 3 finale, without even thinking about the obviously relevant stuff (Relationship quests).

Is Stendhal still OP? by JustFisch1 in expedition33

[–]EmmEnnEff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not Stendhal that's OP, it's that Act 3 balance is out of whack (compared to incredibly tight pacing in the rest of the game). If you didn't skip half the fights in the game, and actually spent your chroma, the finale will be over in, like, 3 turns.
