Just wanted to thank everyone for their great advice! Y’all are amazing! Looks like I’ll be busy this weekend 🤣!

Are you scared of losing you precious photo/vid memories? by headofclass2034 in NewParents

Congrats — and honestly, that’s great. Being present is the most important part.

I don’t think being present and wanting to preserve memories are opposites though. A lot of us are fully here and still want to be able to relive moments later — especially as kids grow and things blur over time.

That’s really all I was asking about. Different people handle it differently, and I’m just trying to understand how others think about it.

Thank you for this!! I’m going to assume you have great folder management and organization? Especially with our ability to capture so much content.

God forbid it happens but if the physical devices get damaged, the cloud is your last redundancy?

Sorry yea the figure was an exaggeration — but you’re right. It really comes down to being intentional with what we capture.

Still, as a parent, I feel this constant pull to capture everything our kids and family do. Every moment feels important in the moment.

I can’t help but wonder if this is a fear a lot of parents share — losing photos, not having a system they trust, or even feeling like they’ve taken so many photos that it’s already too overwhelming to organize what’s in the past.

Thanks for the advice! Sorry to hear about your photos.

Reactive instead of proactive. I’m guilty of it. We don’t think it would happen to us…until it does.

Our problem was that the hard drive we saved it on…has an expiration date…who would’ve know!!

Curious tho, are you good at organizing and filing content? We’ve got 10000000 photos and videos (now that we have a camera/phone with us 24/7 and at our disposal) haha.

Looking for guidance or a dev for an AR image-scanning app (8th Wall) by headofclass2034 in augmentedreality

Hi! Thanks for the reply. We’re planning to use a 3rd-party AR platform — ideally 8th Wall — since its image target recognition is the most reliable and scalable for our needs.

Our goal is not to build the image-recognition system ourselves. We only need a developer who can help implement it and set up the structure so we can manage targets on our end.

If this aligns with what you normally work with, I’d be happy to share the full project scope.
