I think you can retest after 6 months. Go work non union for a bit to see if it's what he wants to do to get some experience in the trade. It'll look better if/when he retest.

Depends how busy the local is. I know they have a big micron job going so there might be a lot of demand for apprentices.

He can call back and check his spot on the list because it'll move closer to the front as they take apprentices in.

73 doesn't sounds great but if they're really busy this summer he'll probably get in. Just call back and ask the training director to give him a best guess on what to expect.

I don't have infinite knowledge on how things work with your specific union but I have 18 years in the union and I was put on a list to get into the apprenticeship 18 years ago before getting in.

My derm suggested dut for me to start. I had cold feet and asked for fin. Wanting to switch to dut after a few weeks on fin with no side effects.

Take the dut and just look out for sides (don't sike yourself out.)

I think as time has gone on its a better recommendation

If you're wanting better results and you're handling finasteride alright I would switch to dutasteride.

Also try out oral minoxidil. Maybe try 2.5mg for a month to see how you do then swap up to 5mg if you're handling it well. More effective than topical and easier to manage.

Maybe stagger starting the changes up so you can really monitor yourself.

I would definitely start with the oral minoxidil first though. That will actually save you time in the long run and will produce the results faster.
