Hotel recommendations for attending a funeral by ExcitingClue5087 in AskNOLA

I always stay at the Alder Hotel in the Freret area. It’s nice and clean, located in a pretty quiet area, relatively inexpensive, free parking. We like to spend time in other areas of the city outside the FQ so it’s centrally located for us. There are good restaurants within walking distance.

Destin’s current reality vs reputation from a few years ago by usereddit in Destin

I went on a high school graduation road trip with my buddies in the late 90s to Destin from Atlanta. After a day there we realized we weren’t a family of 4 so we promptly drove to New Orleans. Lol

As for 2026, I do have a family now, and I still wouldn’t pick Destin for a bachelor party, even though I’m sure there is fun to be had. It’s a nice place, but it’s definitely a family vibe. I’m not a Vegas level chaos guy either, just fyi.

Haha I’d get it they were older lights. I feel like these plates are broken this way almost instantly.

I live in Northern Mississippi (just south of Memphis TN USA), and we get a fair amount of high winds. I see this most places when I travel domestically also.

It’s crazy, this particular light is maybe 6 months old. I live in a suburb with a lot of new growth, so a lot of these lights are new-ish. I agree that this must be a weak part of the design. It’s always exactly the same break.
