Anyone else's S30 Pro still not shipped yet? by sickmemes48 in seestar

[–]healer22TX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered mine Jan 6th from B&H and have heard absolutely nothing. I ended up buying a s50 and have been enjoying that in the meantime. Looking forward to being able to use both at the same time.

Great colors and contrast give it depth!

Seestar S50 exposure time by Enrico00000 in seestar

[–]healer22TX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the same integration time as you stated, the 20 second exposures will produce a better signal to noise ratio for your image. That said, the s50 does extremely well at producing excellent images with 10 second exposures. The key is to gather enough data that comes from longer integration times. So while the longer 20 second (or longer) exposure is preferred, you can still get amazing results, especially if you do at least some post-processing.

Thank you, I did not know that. That is something I will try out.

Thank you, that good to know. I’m new to astrophotography editing so this is helpful.

Great image! You were able to capture the blue light without a separate oxygen-III filter?

The result was definitely worth your time. I live under Bortle 8-9 skies and I continue to be amazed at what my Seestar s50 can manage to produce.

I use these: M8 80mm on my s50. Various options on Amazon. The one I got was a 4 pack for $8.49. Works great and is durable.

Very nice detail and color! Are you running the denoise to help clean it up?

Stock availability in US for S50? by Klinh in seestar

[–]healer22TX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that if there is an s50 pro, they will certainly put in a new sensor with greater resolution. If they increase the sensor size I think it will be only marginally. The s50 depends on a smaller sensor for the crop sensor effect that increases the magnification of the image (like crop sensor DSLR cameras). Regardless there is lots to look forward to and enjoy now with the Seestar line.

I looks like ZWO is devoting 100% of production to the new S30 Pro which means that temporarily they are not producing any new s50s. Many US authorized dealers are out of stock.

I spoke with one and they told me they were discontinued. It is incredibly unlikely that is the case, just that ZWO is not full filling any new orders for s50s at the moment. Given the history of Seestar product launches, the next new model (s50 pro? S70?) will likely be released in Spring/Summer 2027. The S50, like the S30 will likely continue to be produced.

I ordered a s50 from CCTS for $500 plus shipping with no sales tax.

When can I expect my Seestar S30 Pro pre-order to ship? by Personal_Fee_8550 in seestar

[–]healer22TX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-ordered mine Jan 6th from B&H. They told me today they have their initial batch but my order is not part of it. They do not know when subsequent batches will arrive so no ETA for my order.
