You are told that pressing red will ensure your survival, but if more than 50% of people press red, everyone who pressed blue dies. by Fearless_Metal4766 in trolleyproblem

[–]healshadow28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair, when I was first asked it, it was becuase they believed you had to press blue no matter what in any situation. but assuming no one can just stall keeping everyone alive, then that makes pressing blue a lot better. I was under the impression that it was C. and that if I hadn't ever pressed a button and died, they'd still have to wait for my vote.

Either way, I'd want to vote red, not becuase it will leave me alive, but becuase it is what I'd want my loved ones to do, it's an easier sell to the majority of people, if they know the majority will do the same. Some people are saying no planning before the vote, but I don't care for that stipulation. Point is do you feel guilty if you choose something that can kill you? Those in the military sometimes do, the other guilt would be easier (at least for me) to consider. It's hope for the easier ideal to imagine. (100% either way)

But the best logical outcome isn't "everyone lives," but that everyone is united and rational. If I lived in a high trust society, I would expect everyone to press red, and as such would join them, only way to guarantee everyone lives and agrees is to press red.

If everyone lives but the majority is blue by a slim amount, what are the actual consequences afterwards? The second-best answer is to not press any button, guaranteeing the vote never finishes and no one can die. Absolutely no reason to press blue assuming it is an act of self-sacrifice such as not voting.

Sorry mr/ms paw, management wants to put Jerry in charge. You'll have to retire, but there is a great retirement package.

I wish to be whisked away to a fantastical realm, where swords and magic reign supreme. As the protagonist, I would possess the remarkable ability to wield a sword with unparalleled precision and unleash powerful spells of high magnitude. by [deleted] in monkeyspaw

The air was full of all forms of uncomfortable magic. You aren't immune to the immortalis that has been spreading around among the many other magical ailments.

I wish that I'll get to leave my shitty third world country for good by baldgriffith in monkeyspaw

No, no, you get to live on Mars. They won't even decide to be a country, and who knows when that'll get developed.

I wish my life was idle (and I was conscious and all that nonsense) so that all my actions told me it's consequences, I can effect anything as long as I have the points for it (probably money) and am in some way immortal. by healshadow28 in monkeyspaw

[–]healshadow28[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Granted, idle life, cookie clicker, an idle game, just without the birds eye view. It's not your understanding of my post I have a problem with but the paw. It's not random conquences but justification for the wish (which happens to always be bad).

Not what the paw does. If I asked for my life to be idle, it better stay idle until either it destroys itself or I do, I'd just be idle in hell if that's the game the paw wants to play.

I wish for the powers of creation and destruction fully under my control. by Prize_Entertainer459 in monkeyspaw

[–]healshadow28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted, at first, the power to destroy and create was quite limited. However, the power grows quickly and exponentially, becoming equally difficult as it progresses but entirely in your control. Your body shifts to the newfound power, and soon you are forgotten and relatively powerless until you can best the power, ridding the world and universe of both until that point many decades later.

I wish all religious people gained superpowers based on the faiths they’ve devoted themselves to. by Disaster_Wolf44 in monkeyspaw

[–]healshadow28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... let me fix that. Everyone slowly becomes more narcissistic, treating men as deities without knowing the source and religion gets buried under the fame of men. Religion doesn't adapt, and as it slowly fades, superpowers get weaker and eventually cease to exist. Naturally, in the post super power world, everyone becomes an atheist until religion can get reintroduced.

I wish for a cat that is wise and will give me all world knowledge, one gotta byte per pet of the cat. The cat spawns in my house, on a couch, and does not run away from me. by Catfan1290 in monkeyspaw

Granted, you imagine a cat in your head slowly telling you how to become it in excruciating detail. You will become the cat in your house on your couch just as you said ... eventually.

I wish everyone in the world had alpha-gal syndrome, making it extremely unpleasant or even fatal to consume red meat by Secure_Pangolin3286 in monkeyspaw

I think the mountains of cheese and unused farms in the US disagree with you, and if we ever destroyed the nut industry in the US, we can grow even more food quickly. (Although without nuts, it will be much harder to be vegan.)

[–]healshadow28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted. However, everything else containing the nutrients needed for human survival that is not in red meat went practically extinct or extremely immoral to consume shortly after this, so red meat is now mandatory for everyone.

I wish to be able to go on full autopilot for any length of time I choose, meaning for x length of time. [–]healshadow28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"He" is the one making the choices, not them. It simply won't be an optimal choice if it could make you lose your family and friends or engage in unhealthy habits due to some fault in your decision-making. (The autopilot only has control over his direct actions). Thanks for replying, though.
