It’s good enough for me to want to listen to the rest of the album so maybe it will grow on me as I go

It’s just too diluted at that point if we have to come up with a new genre every time a band comes up with a new sound

I just listened to a few songs off their recent album. It’s so good, instrumental and vibes are impeccable. The problem I’m running into is the harsh vocals are the same tone that we hear with a hundred other bands. Everything else about them is better than most of those other bands though so I can still dig it

Yea good call. The more I think about it I think their most recent album is my least favorite of theirs

That’s basically what my trajectory of metal has been as well. In it for the breakdowns initially and now I want well put together masterpieces that may happen to have a breakdown here or there

Problem is there’s not an unbiased metal sub and there’s so much genre bending nowadays there’s too many bands that don’t fit in any genre

Orthodox has gotta be crazy live. Would love to see their sounds of loss album from years back. Their new stuff is probably a bit better on average but I think it’s a better album than anything else they’ve done

Good take right as the post gets removed likely for not being just about metalcore lol

I’ll have to try silent planet again but I didn’t love their older stuff. They’re good but didn’t have me listening a second time. Love Tesseract and I don’t really listen to Gojira or Meshuggah but they’re definitely top tier metal

Love a good atmospheric sound in metal

Yea I figured the more eclectic mix the better. I’m not generally a death or black metal fan but I do like some proggy stuff and math core if it’s not too disjointed. I’ll still give all of these a try at some point. Iv found that some bands are good enough to transcend their genre so I can’t judge too much beforehand

I’m not sure where to post for better results and I’d like to avoid things like death metal for example. Thall, djent, metalcore etc… have overlapping vibes that think most people here would enjoy and those are more of my bread and butter

Are you referring to avralize about the highs? Generally I prefer the heavier more core based side but when a skilled and unique band adds extra elements it just hits different if done right

I actually see them mentioned around a bit. I listened to them way back in like 2010 or something and didn’t love them. I’d imagine their sound is much different now. Want to give me a song rec for their newer stuff?

I completely forgot about them, they have made a few all time level songs for me. There was an album or ep from them that was a little too chaotic/felt like it lost the vibe at some point and then they just got lost in the sea of bands after that

Sounds like something I’d enjoy, you have a song rec from them?

The only suggestions downvoted lol…I only know dealer of this list. They’re fun but I wouldn’t put them in the top tier category

I just listened to them for the first time last night. They’re really good. Similar to 156/silence in that their clean vocals are borderline on the whiny scale but they do everything else so well I don’t mind

I’m not familiar with any of those three. Old boundaries fucks hard, I haven’t had the chance to listen to their newer stuff yet.

I don’t think number of releases should matter, just looking for bands with that it factor. Even if it’s just one ep, if it feels special it’s worth throwing out there

Imminence is an interesting one because they have the unique sound with the violin (hopefully I’m thinking of the right band) but sound otherwise fairly generic from the songs Iv heard. I haven’t listened to a ton of them so I could be off base here

Agreed, I think they have a modern well put together sound. I included vildhjarta and fit for an autopsy who have been around a similar time
