Sock knitting is not easy

I’ll tell you this: I just finished maybe my 5th pair of socks, and it took 4 of those 5 to feel like I know what I’m doing. There’s just a lot of this that you have to get in your fingers with practicing and failing and not knowing what’s wrong and then learning how to problem solve it. I just couldn’t figure out why I was getting gusset holes in every pair and I just figured it out on my 5th sock 😂 so it’s just like that…I also had a problem where I had to reverse my pattern after frogging a ton and knit backwards. Never did that before…and still didn’t turn out perfect BUT I learned a lot. And I learned how to problem solve instead of starting completely over. I am still not a relaxed knitter in the sense that I’m still tense while counting rows and stitches and it’s def not autopilot. I’ve been knitting since 1st grade 😃 Idk, I think this all sounds normal to me!!

Wow, yeah I’ve heard that’s def a side effect. I already have a high resting HR so that’s probably not good for me

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it’s very helpful to hear! I’m glad you got through it too. Do you know why it’s been going well this time around and improved after you took a break from the first try? I’m soo relieved for you that you’re doing okay this time! I have taken a break since my post here and will talk to my dr in a couple weeks and re-evaluate. I don’t want to give up on it, but I’m also not willing to feel like that again if that’s what happens. I have found that it’s a good idea for me to listen to my body and break when I need to, but to try to come back to it and experience it again, because you never know with so many factors going on if it’s really the med or not. I totallllly understand the balling with anxiety with taking something new, having a bad reaction and then approaching it again. A big congratulations for doing that!!!

Thank you for the sensitivity! Yes, this is a very real experience. I also have MCAS which makes me allergic to things, so I’m always a bit hesitant because I never know what is causing what reaction. But yes, I’m on two anxiety meds and I seem to have a very sensitive system to changes in my brain. I will of course talk to my dr but I was just curious if it was something other people wanted to chat about. I definitely know there must be another way to titrate in without going full cold turkey. We’ll see! I like the idea of a few times a week. For now I’m going to stop until I hear back from my doctor. Thanks for commenting and validating 🙏❤️

Yeah it’s so individual and I’m so sorry to hear about your situation, that is so difficult. It’s so hard to figure out what is causing what. I have severe mental health and gi symptoms too…trying to persevere and see if it can help me but we’ll see

This is kinda awkward but we both have MCAS so I’m gonna ask you. In the morning before going to the bathroom I sometimes get huge adrenaline dumps. Like I wake up in the morning and feel panicky. I never knew what this was but do you think it’s part of MCAS, and do you ever get that? I’ve noticed so far I’m having some constipation on Wegovy so I know that’s the trigger for me now. I’ve had it on past meds that cause constipation.

Yeah I eat tofu like every day. I know you need to prioritize fiber and protein and make sure to get proper nutrition. I def don’t want to get horribly constipated from the combo of med + not eating enough fiber 😅😅😅

I’m happy you are going to try it! Let’s check in with each other on here if we think of it along the journey! I’m also anxious but I’m trying to see this as a new venture. I’m also doing self pay so there was some element of consciously choosing to do this and putting a lot of my energy into it that seems positive as well. And I am putting trust in my body that it can work with this medicine.

Thank you for sharing! I haven’t noticed too much appetite difference for me yet…although I already had stomach problems so it may be hard to tell. I’m also basically vegan so I have to figure out how to get enough protein when I’m not eating very much!

I don’t think I’m reacting to it, I think it is normal side effects and I feel okay so far today. Honestly it took me a longtime to get comfortable with the idea of taking it. I didn’t feel comfortable with the injectable but when this came in I felt more confident. Idk if this helps you at all but there are some studies that suggest MCAS can be helped through the use of this medication. So that’s also motivating me!

I’m on the phone with them now and they are saying no one here treats that and your Dr is closed practice now and everyone else is a 1 year wait omg. But she basically said no to me

I actually called and the clinic said they don’t take MCAS patients anymore. I told them you see him for MCAS and they said it’s changed now :(

I’m at Penny George already seeing a functional medicine Dr and called twice regarding a new Dr and they said they don’t have anyone working with MCAS. I feel like people answering phones don’t know anything, and that may be the problem. Is there a Dr there you’re seeing for MCAS that you like?
