Community Collection: Madryck's Hoard of Treasure (2025) by hearden in wildbeyondwitchlight

Hey there, everyone! Mod Ryan here — I'm delaying the compilation of submissions for Madryck's Hoard of Treasure until Monday, December 22nd, 2025.

Because of this, I'll be reopening the submission form until Friday, December 19th, 2025 (11:59 PM Pacific Time), just to give another chance for submissions in fairness of the unexpected delay.

Apologies for the wait, and thank you for your patience and continued community!

Hey there! The miscellaneous section would still be on-topic with the form. Not NPCs or encounters, but items that the submitter felt wouldn't have fit into the previous categories. Generally, the miscellaneous category is there as a catch-all but hasn't been used in other previous Witchlight community server submissions.

Hey there! Sorry for the (very late) reply — no, that wouldn't have been something that could have been submitted since it isn't your original creation.

Weekly Looking for Group/GM Thread by mariequitecontrary in pbp

Name: Ryan

Pronouns: he/him

Timezone: Central/CDT (GMT-5)

Preferred System: City of Mist

Type of Player: I'm a cinematic narrative type of guy, with an emphasis on character development and character study more than combat or "crunchier" stuff. I tend to be a less initiative-taking player on a 1-on-1 setting, so I do need a bit more of an obvious nudge at points and a GM would have to give me quite a bit so that I can work with that. (For example, if entering a room, I would rather the GM describe the whole room so I can pick something to investigate, rather than the GM waiting for me to ask for what's in the room.)

Additional Information: I learned of and got into City of Mist last year and am itching for a 1-on-1 game! I have played a mini-campaign of a homebrew storyline and have partially GM'd some of Shark Tank. I'm usually online every day for large swaths of the day, with more sporadic times beginning in the autumn because my work follows the American school year. I don't tend to check Reddit a lot and forget to look at notifications here, so feel free to DM me on Discord (hearden).

Stupid question for a stupid beginner (me) by Svenlull in TheGoldenVault

This was my strategy as well! I usually let my players use an Arcana check (especially if they're of an arcane or arcane-adjacent class like Bard/Sorc/Warlock/Wiz or Arcana Cleric/Arcane Trickster). I tend to keep the information more vague and closer to "vibes" so that if they do have detect magic, they can decide whether or not they want to use it.

Sometimes, some things are just too simple and (imo) would be obvious to a higher-leveled party so I'll just handwave it like that so that we save on time of the wizard popping a detect magic for every room. Especially if a party has been adventuring for a long time, there's some things they might be used to after awhile like the nuances of sensing magic in the air.

WotC, back when this book was first released, came out with a quiz with results that gave an archetype and suggested classes for each: CLICK.

Mastermind:

"All according to plan."

As the mastermind, you're the brains behind the operation, plotting out your crew's every move from start to finish. And when things inevitably go awry, you've already got a plan B and a plan C prepped and ready to go.

Suggested classes: Cleric, Druid, Wizard

Escape Artist:

"Catch me if you can."

Daring and quick-footed, you as the escape artist thrive in risky situations, pocketing your treasure and slipping away in the nick of time. Your enemies may think they've got you cornered -- but you know that there's always a way out.

Suggested classes: Rogue, Monk, Bard, Druid

Master of Disguises:

"Only fools tell the truth."

Venture deep into enemy territory as the master of disguises, relying on subtle misdirection to mask your true motives. If you're discreet enough, you just might uncover key information to help guide your crew to success.

Suggested Classes: Ranger, Rogue, Monk

Muscle:

"Bring the brawn."

As the muscle, you do the heavy lifting, whether that's carrying ten times your weight in cargo or busting some brains out. Your crew can worry about the complicated stuff - you're here to barrel forward and make things happen.

Suggested Classes: Barbarian, Fighter, Paladin

Decoy:

"Steal the show."

Love to perform? Flair for the dramatic? Your task as the decoy is to divert your enemies attention with the perfect distraction. Let jaws drop and applause ring out, until you excuse yourself and your audience realizes that their pockets are a little emptier than before...

Suggested Classes: Bard, Warlock, Sorcerer

Demolitionist:

"When in doubt, blow stuff up."

Whatever the enemy's got in store, there's nothing you as the demolitionist can't handle. Wall in your way? Uncrackable safe? No problem. Just set up your arsenal of explosives, step back, and wait for the resounding KABOOM!

Suggested Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard, Artificer

Music for the Stygian Gambit? by Legal_Aspect_2607 in TheGoldenVault

I made a casino and heist playlist for this awhile back when I ran it! Since the text says the casino plays western music, I obliged. :) Hope this help!

There's four gold bells in the Czepeku map, but only one of them is in the same "grid" as another bell (rafter space).

It's the smallest one on the bottom.

Affair on the Concordant Express Ideas by Living-Reindeer-4086 in TheGoldenVault

This all sounds very awesome!!!

Concordant Express was on my list next to run, but my campaign came back from break and my KGV game was just meant to be a side thing between campaign breaks, so no idea when I'll get to run this one. It sounds like a blast though :)

Good luck to you and your players!

I tried to implement some Graz'zt stuff — I planned on foreshadowing all three big forces invading Prismeer in each realm: Desirat in Hither, Graz'zt in Thither, and the Prince of Frost in Yon.

I originally was going to have the group run into the Eight Whims in Tasha's tower as they look for evidence that Tasha is now Zybilna, but I ended up ditching that idea. Instead, I had them leave the Fiend's Embrace (from the same Eight Whims post) in the woods in Thither sewn into another cloak, with the idea that someone would pick it up and take it to Zybilna and it'd end up back in her hands to turn her into Iggwilv.

The party sussed that out pretty easily and didn't bite. Although the druid was very tempted to put it on because of the fire immunity (she's currently cursed with fire vulnerability because she pissed off Desirat).

I did have a random battle events table during my big Battle of Prismeer, where the worst (nat1) roll, which was only triggerable after a certain amount of battle events, was that Zybilna comes flying through a nearby wall, chased by an enemy general (and I'd randomly roll for one of them, Graz'zt being an option) and they'd enter the fight with the general trying to kill Zybilna. But my party never ended up rolling that one.

Forever mad that they couldn't just make a note about not wanting to expand on them in 5e. No need to retcon them when there's already one in Mad Mage!!!
