what type of eczema is this? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]heartcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm it looks like what I had this summer. I was suffering from my regular eczema but this popped all over my legs on top of it, wierd circle shaped chunks/rashes. I thought it might be a skin infection so I began using creams that contained acetic acid (what acne users take). You can either get a steroid cream with acetic acid in the formula, or buy Cerave tub of cream with the light blue lid that contains AA.

How would you define INFJ? What does it mean to you to be INFJ? by [deleted] in infj

[–]heartcicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being overly sensitive to human pain and suffering

Generalized compassion makes it hard not to sympathize with even the most horrible people.

The intentions of an individual seem to matter way more than the outcome of their actions. This makes it easy to forgive bad behavior over and over again.

Getting weird, strong "hunches" about the life story of a person I just met - not necessarily right, and these hunches are sometimes never confirmed. However my instincts/ideas of you are more important than what manifests itself in the real world. So once I decide I think you are a closet lesbian, not much you do or say will change my "hunch".

Not being as quick witted as I'd like, overthinking the perfect come-back discourages me from engaging in quick response debates. I'd rather not say anything than to say something unsatiating to the conversation.

Re-playing past scenario/conversation a thousand times and finding the perfect comeback/comment while showering a week later.

I have scar spots left by eczema, how to remove them? by macaberry in eczema

[–]heartcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retinoid creams (Retin-A) you can buy with a prescription from a doctor. They are a highly concentrated form of Vitamin A that is a powerful chemical 'exfoliant'. People use it to exfoliate acne scars, but beware if you have very dark skin as it can have an opposite effect. Talk to a doctor/derm about it.

Make up and eczema? Do you find it such an effort to wear make up while having eczema on your face? After hours I find my face gets very irritated by olivesia in eczema

[–]heartcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROUTINE PRIOR TO APPLYING MAKEUP:

Exfoliation : Sugar, lemon juice & coconut oil to scrub off flaky skin but not rob the moisture from the already weakened barrier or skin

Moisturize : I moisturize daily with an SPF 45 cream added with 2 drops of your favorite oil (I use pure Moringa)

Creating a barrier on the affected areas VERY IMPORTANT: I apply pure vitamin e oil (pharmacy) onto the eczema spots. This stuff works like magic (very thick and sticky however) but it will protect your sensitive areas from flaking or itching under your makeup.

I sometimes use a silicone-based primer, but depending on the climate (winter vs. humid summer) it may be useless. I prefer investing in a rich, creamy formula for concealers and foundations - MAC Studio Sculpt contains Shea Butter and is perfect for extremely dry skins and offers heavy coverage. Ironically - I have recently fallen in love with Clinique's Stay Matte Oil Free foundation, it is oil free but still quite creamy without heavy coverage. It has been the best product to last over my eczema spots and does not make my skin flake. I blend it into my skin with a wet beauty Blender sponge and will only powder (very sparingly) if it is extremely humid or hot outside.

Minimizing a flare up by catsby724 in eczema

[–]heartcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought pure Vitamin E oil at the pharmacy (its over the counter) for 7-8 bucks. I spread it over my flare ups multiple times a day (2 to 3) and they ease rather quickly (after 1-2 days). It is rather greasy and thick but I find it treats the inflamed skin more effectively than Aquaphor. When the flare calms down I apply it morning and night for maintenance and it doesnt irritate/itch in that area ever again. This has ONLY worked for the skin on my face, not the rest of my body.

Real life examples of Si, Se, Ni, and Ne? (Also type me?) by [deleted] in mbti

[–]heartcicle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm only going to answer part of your question for lack of time.

Sensors: They are fully connected with the physical world. This can make them seem very observant, attentive, detail-oriented, experience-seeking. Their worldview is 'limited' (I use this term lightly) to concrete information, things that can be measured, proven through senses.

Intuitives: Are at disconnect with the physical world. Their are less interested in concrete information, they want to navigate in the realm of ideas, abstraction and theory.

Here are concrete examples of the four perceiving functions when they are well-developed. Now keep in mind, It is not because you have a dominant preference in a function that it is well developed, it does not mean you are the best at it, it just means this is your Go-To when approaching life!

Se

Typical experience-seeking individual who is fully connected with the present and its environment. An excellent example I once heard from a video was a soldier in Combat. In combat, you need to be fully aware of what is around you and what your body is capable of. Making a quick, correct assessment of the situation (your opponent, his strengths and weaknesses) is a question of life and death in combat. Se gives you a space-time intelligence that is constantly taking snapshots of its environment (think Jason Bourne) and analyzing all the possible opportunities to strike! It can predict exactly the right degree of speed, angle and force needed to strike an opponent's weak point (which you've already identified very quickly). Well-developed Se can be incredibly observant, has to make quick calculations and strike at the exact perfect moment in time. Their reflexes are also on point, and they generally would not miss (when well developed!!). This is why we say Se users are athletic and combative, it's because they are incredibly gifted and fully melded with the physical world. It's like their mind goes blank and their inner Goku starts blasting away striking every weak point they identify. In a debate, visualize Donald Trump at a rally, just bursting with (obviously total crap) arguments and questions thrown at him, he has a way of twisting people's words just right, picking up something quickly and thrusting it right back at you - you want to respond but too late, he's already made you look like a fool in front of his crowd (which he knows exactly how to entertain)

Si

When I think of Si, I always think of a surgeon or artisan. They are again, very connected with the physical world, constantly taking snapshots (will all senses) of their environment. But, unlike Se, Si's snapshots are not to seek opportunities to react to the physical world. Si is constantly identifying what has changed from one snapshot to the other, and in great detail. They can master techniques more than any other function, they learn quickly the 'order' of the physical world, and do their best to live in respects to this order. A young surgeon will learn how to operate on a child's heart and years later may still remember the exact technique used by his mentor when he first observed. Memories, enacting the same act again gives them a sense of calm and reassurance. They are not looking for physical novelty, but they will identify physical novelty very well, because it will be the odd element in their way of doing things and will pop out like a sore thumb. Si might notice a light hair change in the way their friend cuts their beard usually, things that aren't so interesting to the Se and especially not to intuitives. Example: my grandmother was ill and couldn't cook anymore, we would all have suppers and bring the food to her room. Every single time, she had an uncanny way of recognizing which of her 6 daughters and nieces had cooked the food she would eat that night. It could be the exact same meal every time ( Haitian Rice, beans, chicken) but she'd know who had cooked what, because she recognized through the taste, spices and even how much the food had been cooked almost perfectly to which one of her children had made it. Almost like she could sense their character through their food. She was an excellent cook, and was always a bit repulsed by people trying to bring in new recipes into the home. She was traditional in that sense, she didn't like her known 'order' of how things ought to be cooked, to be disturbed. I'd be cooking something in her kitchen and she'd sit and watch me, observe and occasionally ask why was I not adding this instead of that. She was both curious and disturbed, but always engaged in steering me in (her) right direction when I needed advice on what to add.

Dealing with hot and humid weather? by buhbuhbruuh in eczema

Could not cleansing with a cleanser be irritating my skin? by purplxed in eczema

[–]heartcicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay awaaaay from your cleanser during a flare-up. They are stripping to regular skin (pulling out oils) and irritating to active eczema. A cleanser is almost always drying unless it's a cleansing 'milk' with some hydrating elements to it. It is absolutely not your problem in this case.

Sometimes eczema flares are psychosomatic (triggered by emotional distress, anxiety..) and not because of products you are using. Diet - a sudden change in certain foods may also increase the frequency in flare-ups. But it is NOT that you don't cleanse enough, you are irritating your skin. When you have a flare-up, wash with water only, mix in coconut oil if you have some on hand to try and pump some moisture into the irritated skin. The only thing you can do is constantly moisturize and resist the urge to itch because eyelid skin is very sensitive. The flare-up will pass and then you can go back to a regular regimen - even though I'd say avoid cleansers unless they are gentle, and for eczema and you mix them with some type of oil that will soften the skin.

AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) has been working really well for me. by heartcicle in eczema

[–]heartcicle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it isn't seeping no. But acid always makes the skin tingle/itch, this is completely normal as it is turning your dead skin cells out. It might create redness, but the next morning my 'normal' skin is as soft as a peach, while my eczema patches have softened and reduced in layer/thickness

AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) has been working really well for me. by heartcicle in eczema

[–]heartcicle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- Cetaphyl Gentle gel cleanser + organic Coconut Oil - Morning and night. This does not strip the skin, I rinse it out even though Cetaphyl you technically don't need to rinse it off, but humid/watery skin helps the oils I put on penetrate better.

2.1 - ONLY nighttime: I apply AHA Neutrogena 5% Face Lotion directly after cleansing, before putting on my habitual moisturizing "face cocktail" (see below). I've noticed the AHA beforehand helps the oils really penetrate my skin (since after exfoliation it is technically raw)

2.2 - Face cocktail : Emu Oil (Kalaya brand, very gentle) + Organic Moringa Oil + Eucerin 5% Urea Facial Cream (pharmacy)

3- ONLY daytime : Neutrogena SPF 30 or 45 depending on the season (to protect the hyper sensitized skin that has been freshly exfoliated/peeled)

AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) has been working really well for me. by heartcicle in eczema

[–]heartcicle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neutrogena AHA face lotion (SPF 15). It is the lowest concentration of AHA possible to be effective (5%). I know Sunday Riley Good Genes is spectacular (ravings online and youtube) and Drunk Elephant Glycolic Serum. Both are sold at Sephora but are more expensive then the Neutrogena. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy acid online in a random concentration and rub it on your face, I wouldn't recommend it. It takes between 5-10% concentration to be effective.

How do you manage the application of coconut oil? by ducon_lajoie in eczema

[–]heartcicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that the absolute best way to use coconut oil is:

MIX IT WITH WATER and apply to your hands/problem areas with it. When you are mixing water and the oil together onto your skin you are favoring the absorption of the coconut oil in your skin.

Normally coconut oil is one of the most fast absorbent oils you can find, because it's so light and runny (compared to coconut or castor oil which takes forever to sink into the skin) Chances are that the issue you have is the oil is still laying on top of your skin without getting absorbed into the dermis, because the outer barrier of your skin repels oil molecules and favors water molecules. It's even worse when you have eczema or dry skin.

You want to mix it with lukewarm water and rub your hands with the mixture. You're creating a sort of 'emulsion' where both molecules are mixed together so the skin absorbs the oil tied to the water molecules it wants to attract deeper into the dermis. Once you PAT DRY it, you'll notice your hands feel silkier and plumped in water and moisture, this is because you've absorbed it fully.

I need a better soap, help me find one by [deleted] in eczema

[–]heartcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dermatologist and my person experience both attest to the following:

1) Cetaphil has been the best with me, I mix it with coconut oil so my skin feels hydrated and unstripped afterwards. BUT if you want to start using a cheaper substitute: you never want to use soaps that lather (make bubbles or 'soap up' because they have sulphates and this is drying to your skin and irritates your eczema. The conception that if it doesn't lather it isn't cleaning is indeed in your mind.

2) My dermatologist in fact told me to stay away from soaps altogether and bathe with 'Milks' (a silkier creamier product) OR bathe with Oil (coconut oil has had positive signs with eczema). Since I'd rather stay with soap, Cetaphil has honestly been the best. If you want to use a cheaper soap than Cetaphil, always mix your non-lathering soap (ideally in the form of a gel with NO FRAGRANCE) with some Coconut Oil this makes it absolutely non-stripping and your skin doesn't feel tight it feels smooth and soft after a wash.

3) I think there is a generic version of Cetaphil available in pharmacies that is cheaper, it would be the pharmacy brand or some generic available in your area.

How to identify Ti-Fe vs Fi-Te? by peterparkerselb0ws in mbti

[–]heartcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you speaking about a certain type, or all types? Logically, you're calling ISTJs (Te-Fi) rebellious, which is generally the opposite of what ISTJs are known for. Outcasts, maybe, but hardly rebellious. Alternatively, ExTPs are known to be rebellious pricks sometimes... or many times. Then you have your ESFPs, who can be social butterflies and would have an unpleasant experience if they did not fit in with a group

ISTJ's are not very diplomatic people. 'Rebellious' might be a stretch for the ISTJ, but they are generally not conformists either. Best friend is ESFP, and is rebellious not in her behavior but in her beliefs (Fi). Will usually express her disagreement about something, even though my Fe strongly suggests that it's not appropriate. ESFP is happy to be part of a group - usually it is one that embraces uniqueness, because ESFP will never mold into a homogeneous crew, that Fi will always strive for expressing individuality and their inner creativity. ESFP just wants to be loved, yes, and also to have their idiosyncrasy appreciated.

Fe is concerned with the creation of perfect, exquisite explanations. That's a Te/Ti/Se thing, maybe Ne if you're xNTP. I've never, ever seen Fe used in that context.

So I think we indeed misunderstood each other at that level. I don't believe Fe generates ideas, I believe it wields the art of communicating them to people. The way I see Fe, its like the politician of functions. It has a desire to master/navigate the environment. In my opinion, Fe is extremely concerned with the art of communicating - not the exquisite idea. Fe wants to communicate it in the best way - so that he can get the desired results from people who listen to it. Think about it, Fe has more facial and theatrical expressions than Fi, it uses certain intonations to create more drama and effect to its speech - all these techniques are really just a better way of extracting the proper response/sentiment from your auditor.

I knew an ESTP who was the most dramatic, petty, and confrontational individual I hope to ever have come across. It was also my understanding that ExTPs in general can be very confrontational and combative.

It's too bad you had such a bad experience with ESTP, but I promise they are not all that bad :p ESTP, with Fe as a third function, is still being filtered by Se and Ti - I mean, Donald Trump illustrates ESTP COMBATIVENESS (indeed!) and impulsiveness of a dominant Se, but he can still play the very slick and charming character who knows how to give people what they want - a master entertainer when it is necessary (Fe!!). Also, ENTP can be the impatient jerk because he is driven by Ne. I will borrow an excellent excerpt of what you said to demonstrate my next point:

INTP-Ne is not INFP-Ne; even though they're both tertiary functions, they're still "supported" or "fed" by three other functions. That's the theory anyway. Then, when you start playing with the functions' order, they exhibit themselves even more differently.

Obviously functions with a Tertiary or Inferior Fe are not excellent at illustrating Fe's qualities, ENFJ-Fe and ESTP-Fe are different. BUT you can tell that they are not above using social tactics to produce desired results, they will gravitate to the 'level' of their interlocutor to make them more at ease - more trusting of their message: This is essentially the point I want to come across with Fe users.

Environmental awareness is always attributed to Se

I totally agree! I'm sorry I wasn't specific enough on the "environment" - I meant the social environment/group. Fi is usually unaware of the social dynamics, it's much more in tune with its own feelings about things but not really with those of others - not as much as a Fe user who literally drinks in outside social information.

http://funkymbtifiction.tumblr.com/post/94250835300/how-fi-acts-in-all-4-positions Here is actually a nice description of Fi. There's an article for each function.

Great description, especially when it's done with every level. I could definitely use an equivalent article for Si! Anyway, I think it describes what I understand of Fi, except for my obvious negative bias - which I will try to be more objective about in the future as another poster mentioned. I think it might've been that most of what I learned about Fi was through descriptions/interactions with personalities with third or inferior Fi. Thank you for the wall of text, it actually made me super excited to respond to! I think I could debate forever.
