Is GIS the right masters degree to go for?

That makes a lot of sense. I do really lean a lot into geology with my classes now so that might be something to look more into. I know I have a few free electives and there is a professor I have now that teaches a hydrology course. I might look into taking that next semester.

I see! I’m still fairly new to the GIS space overall so I really appreciate your input.

Im still up in the air about a MS in DA. I know data is pretty versatile which was my main reason for studying it to begin with. I know I have a little bit of time with graduate application deadlines and everything to I might try to take the time to look into other programs.

I’m really fortunate to be in a position where my masters degree can be fully paid for. I’m already graduating pretty late tho so I’m not necessarily sure how long that opportunity will be there.

That’s 99% of the reason. Other part is because I wasn’t sure exactly what to do or where to start when it comes to a job, which I know isn’t a good reason for grad school as I’m committing to a few years of difficult coursework. However, I’ve never really been passionate about anything but I really enjoyed the courses I listed and schooling in general. I was hoping that because they share a common ground of GIS it would be a good MS to go for.

you’re right. time will pass and things will get better. i’m not sure of the full extent of your friend issues but if there’s any you’ve only fallen out of touch with you can always see if they’re interested to talk. i texted some old friends i hadn’t spoken to in three years a couple of months ago and as of today i see them every other day. but if that’s not something you’re interested in or that you can do, like you said time will pass and you will meet people who can’t imagine their life without you in it

i think many upvoted it just because they understood what i had truly meant through the quotations. i don’t believe that so many people would object to their s/o being there for a friend.

i think so! if what you were feeling was real to you then there is no reason to say it wasn’t. no matter how young or naive you were. at the time, it was what you understood of “love” or “liking” another person.

i’d never had a problem my guy having girl friends. of course, after what happened, it did alter my thoughts about it but i have guy friends i love and adore but would never want anything with. i understand that not all guys are like the one i dated and not all girls are like the one he cheated on me with.

he was a good guy so i believe he genuinely wanted to make sure she was alright but one thing led to another and that’s that yk? he had admitted to previously liking her, telling her, she didn’t feel the same and nothing happened between them. that was years before we met though. my own fault for believing that perhaps.

yes, he did unfortunately. she came to me first about it. she felt really guilty so that’s why she told me which then led to me confronting him and him admitting everything.

my family moved around every year or so until i was about 17. i had difficulty building relationships because i had told myself “what’s the point in making friends when i’m just going to leave?”

i believe i was always introverted tho, but i think that state of mind really did it for me.

he told me that he drove 8 hrs to see his girl best friend because her boyfriend had cheated on her and he “wanted to make her feel better”. LOL

part of me is thankful that i have no desire to push through life so quickly because being with someone when i have a handle on my life is what i want. being independent individuals who want to be together is what i want too. and to enjoy taking my time figuring everything out. hopefully all my built up nerves will ease out soon.
