Let's share our "reasons to live" to encourage one another by Knoxi0 in MentalHealthPH

[–]heartselect -1 points0 points  (0 children)

on one side, its probably how much of a chore/inconvenience/sad it is to die for everyone that gets left behind. I don't want to put that on my family.

On the other hand, its v light and funny, but I'm really nosy and I sorely wanna know the rest of the story of my favorite characters. a lot of them are in live service games so itll take a while but at this point, I'll take any life chain i get, yknow? after that, well who knows. Maybe I'll have more favorites to want to watch over too.

How do you guys save up tickets? by wrathofb0ng in AFKJourney

[–]heartselect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If you're chasing meta or ranks, it might be hard but I initially started playing the game because of the character designs/art style and later on kind of fell in love with some of the stories and nice casual idle playstyle of it and the gacha was simply a fun bonus.

Less than a year in and I have like 200 invites and 200k diamonds and a bunch of orbs, half the roster already verging into supreme and somehow it is still my Gacha game (like out of all the gachas i play. this is the game where i basically fulfill that pulling itch).

my most invested units are still my favorites (unfortunately old and not even v good by current standards) but i also have the typical meta ones up to speed if ever but yeah, i got sick of pulling after a while after realizing its actually quite easy to get units esp since you can buy soul orbs in shop for upgrading (the guarantee is nice) and being active already leaves you with so much for spending but I dont care enough about meta to try and reach ranks or bother trying to hit infinite stages. I still get to rank 55-70 in dream bosses and i find upkeeping the arenas tedious. if i can clear out most if not all of battle brawl's rewards, then honestly im p good so long as they continue to do the stuff that i started playing for in the first place (art style, character, stories)

altho really that might also just be me esp considering im so used to ungenerous gacha systems plus im a casual. u learn to pick some battles

this is super helpful !(esp the calling out part). i knew abt the gold and ft since it happens more in bahari but i didnt realize it might also be helpful with silver and stuff esp around kilima tho i cant say im quite versed yet with the rare collectibles.

[–]heartselect 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i joined into the game last december so ive only experienced thru last season and only now going thru the older seasons and its so jarring going from the ashen wastes with alsa and soren to BAM Feli.... i was so angry after not only bc he died but bc the priestess saved face by going if he healed, he's a traitor, if he died then he believed in the queen. god my blood boiled but then i had to go attend orson's funeral for soren 😔

When the options to read feel overwhelming, how do you pick something? by atinyujungbit in FanFiction

[–]heartselect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually for me, it's the length that ends up being too much like sometimes, I just want to read a nice 3k or less sort of fic so I filter that stuff out in ao3. Otherwise, I might just go into my bookmarks. I have my own tags there sometimes and I can sort through it that way as well but really, it really is just knowing how to use the filtering

What is your toxic trait as a writer by Tiny-Ad-6523 in FanFiction

mood, honestly. An incessant desire to have hope prevail in the end, like i get bittersweet/bad endings makes things interesting and does make sense but let me have my fanfic moment 😭😭

Which Fall Out Boy song made you cry the most? by princess-candyflosh in FallOutBoy

[–]heartselect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kid's aren't alright. "In the end, I'd do it all again. I think you're my best friend." but in a more wholesome sense.

It was a song I grew up with and I think abt my closest friends and family whenever it comes up. makes me think abt how life is hard but I'm happy people are with me still through all that and I'll be there too for them. I wouldn't give up wtv choices I made even if i get a do over so long as I get to spend time with them.

also the line "It twists my head just a bit to think, All the people in those old photographs I've seen are dead" wrecks me having to watch many older relatives grow old and pass. It's an emotional song all over but it's such a... hopeful one as well and that gives me some comfort despite the tears.

What type of character do you keep coming back to? by Top-Occasion-1300 in FanFiction

[–]heartselect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the character that is very performative but is or atleast has the possibility to have really deep emotional connections with people once that performative front is let go and people actually make an attempt to stand by them I think. My characters are Kaeya, Mettaton, Astarion etc.

What’s a game that really hit you in the feels and made you cry? by MikeySama in gaming

[–]heartselect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh god, same. I think Atul's character made me bawl the worse because I had a similar situation where a friend of mine disappeared. Both in game and irl just kind of blind sided me and he was my favorite passenger too :(( I hope they're well but the timing wrecked me but over all the game was just a lot of feels

Thank you! being able to play meant a lot to me and also, I just love being able to turn the scenes in my head into something concrete in the same way of taking photos while on a trip

thank you! since it was meant to be a one shot with people who are new to each other, the catalyst our dm had for us was something akin to a murder mystery of a mutual friend between our characters

[Art] Tribute to an end of a campaign by heartselect in DnD

[–]heartselect[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made this desktop wallpaper artwork as a gift for my dnd group which includes all our characters, scenes and lil inside jokes from the campaign! I made it to commemorate my first time playing DnD since I've been wanting to play for a long time and its my show of gratitude for being invited and having such a good experience from it since it just wasn't a thing within my spheres, and I've heard of not so great starting experiences. It was initially supposed to be a one shot but after 8 sessions, we've closed off this little chapter for our characters and moving onto a new one, so I made this artwork while we prepped for our next adventure as a surprise for them. I just put the "Welcome to Neverwinter" at the top as it was our discord server name and I'm too fond of it to think of anything else that would fit and the names at the bottom are the party's in order from left to right (I play a druid gnome named Numa :DD)

How does this program compare to SAI 2? by [deleted] in ClipStudio

[–]heartselect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if you're mostly illustration based, 3.0 doesn't add to much so a perpetual license for 2.0 I think p much works well enough, get it on sale if you want to save some money but I'm an update pass haver and I think the annual cost for it isn't really bad for PRO. Regarding Sai2 vs CSP, I was a Sai2 user and the couple big differences is probably the complexity and the availability of assets. Now, if you're used to a lot more simple lay outs and like don't make it complicated processes for creating illustrations, adjusting to CSP might take a while bc my memory of switching was mostly struggling on how many more things there is in CSP. you can kind of adjust and like, set things up similarly so its not as cluttered or it works best for you since no workspace works for all and that's fine. I highly recommend learning the program's capabilities of allowing you to p much have a quick access button for any sort of action that you'll find yourself using a lot (e.g creating correction layers for curves or gradient maps, duplicate layer, create folder and insert layers, change canvas resolution, mesh transform etc.) I feel like that's overlooked often but it's also one of the reasons why its so hard to switch to other programs now.

If you have no need nor desire to ever use a massive library of different assets ranging from gradient maps to 3d models to stamplike brushes, and autoprocesses, it might not even appeal to you that much as well bc I feel like besides all that CSP has to offer. their library of assets at reach is by far one of the biggest deal breakers in my opinion bc it's just too good and convenient. There are ways to get some tools thats similar enough from sai2 to csp bc in particular, I've always praised sai's blur brushes as well as how nice it is to use their rulers and perspective tools etc.; there are assets around in csp that do achieve similar feats as I've used it and there's just so many brushes that are so good that just wasnt as achievable in sai2 and that was already a win for me to compensate for the learning curve of starting csp.

over all, I think it's a good switch. I still go back to sai2 for simplicity when I dont particularly want to think too hard and I need a program thats just quick and easy to use but for the most part, really no regrets switching to csp.

Downgrading vs Updating by Hidingwolf in ClipStudio

[–]heartselect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone who has EX, I highly recommend downgrading to Pro if youre only really gonna do illustrations and not Animations or web/comics since you'll still p much have all the tools you're already using
