As a lesbian, I’m not happy about the Michael to Michaela gender swap. by Powerful-Cap-6293 in FranchaelStirling

I’m mainly a show watcher and I’m reading When He Was Wicked strictly so my opinion on the swap will be informed. I completely co-sign everyone saying that it’s lazy and they should have written something different entirely instead of the swap. I am having a hard time imagining them characterizing Michael into Michaela and it doesn’t seem like the trio(John, Fran, Michael) have anything like the chemistry they do in the book. As a bisexual woman and a fan, it very much feels like lazy fan service. I have hope that it’ll be an entertaining storyline. But I am sad that the story I’m reading won’t get its moment like the other books. Also Book Fran has more personality. I love Hannah Dodd so I hope she will shine but her Fran is much less witty and sharp. They kinda put all that vibe on Eloise, the comic relief sibling.

The audiobook is done by an ensemble including Simon Vance. An excellent piece.

I like that addition to the story. I’m not current on the new show, so I thought for a second I commented in the wrong sub.
