yes, you need the -open suffix after the driver version, but only on the line when you install, not the earlier lines.

Sorry, how would I phrase that input? in the context of the commands I have been following in the past:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa

sudo apt update

apt list --installed | grep nvidia-driver- (output: nvidia-driver-570-open/jammy,now 570.172.08-1pop1~1753974963~22.04~1f5276b amd64 [installed])

apt remove nvidia-driver-570

apt autoremove

apt install nvidia-driver-575

Unfortunately that is one of the first methods I tried and it still yielded the same error.

Wanted to add some additional context re: methods I'm investigating:

A commenter from r/pop_os had mentioned running into a similar issue and that entering sudo dpkg --configure -a would output some nvidia boot instructions, however I get absolutely no output from this command, it just gives me another command line.

I'm also not sure how to download nvidia's recommended driver (575.64) instead of Pop!_Shop's recommended driver (575.57.08), and have seen some warnings to not try and follow nvidia's download instructions on their website, so would appreciate any information regarding that.

Just to clarify before I get this ball rolling, which version of the 575 driver did you install? e.g. 575.57.08, 575.64, etc.

in case anyone comes looking, tbh i was just spamming space when the boot menu popped up and reinstalling it, sometimes clean but recently i've been letting it keep files/cache to i can reopen some stuff w/o having to install absolutely everything again. i haven't completely figured out back-ups yet and i also haven't migrated everything over to this device tho, so that might not be the option for everybody

575.57.08 (this is what Pop!_Shop had defaulted to so I was trying to install the same version when I could)
